i purchased a mathews chill r today brand new from a shop down south. this was my first mathew's and high end bow purchase. i went to take out the screw that was holding the wrist sling on. i was going to add a stabilizer. when i looked in the stabilizer bushing the top two threads were pushed over. i wanted to cry as i just dropped a 1000.00 on a new bow. to say i was upset was a understatement. i drove 75 miles just to get one of these bow's. talk about bad luck :'( any bow tech's out there i sent a email to mathew's but it will be a few days before i here from them. can this bushing be fixed or replaced or am i screwed! any good mathew dealer's with in 50 mile's or so of kelso,wa any help would be appreciated thank's

It doesn't sound like anything a tap can't fix. Sorry for your worry, but I don't think it'll be a problem. Call or take it to xXx Archery, and see if he can fix you right up. If it was my bow, then I'd just do it myself and not think about it again. Once the stabilizer goes on, then it'll come off and on without you even remembering you had a problem at one time. Maybe a detailed picture to Mathews would give them the peace of mind to tell you to just fix it and they'll still back the warranty.

ive had a few bow's but man im bummed. i will try tommorow to take it to a mathews dealer and see if a bow tech can fix it. never had any thing like this ever happen. ive been saveing money for a while to purchase a new high end bow. man i have some bad luck just found out today i have a ulcer today from the doctor and this will probably add to it! i have had two surgeries already this year one on my left hand and one on my neck. it would be nice if something went right for once. :dunno: sorry for the rant guy's. if any one want's to see a picture i can text it to them if you have any idea's thank's

Is this something you accidently did when you took out the screw? Or did you just notice it after you got the screw out?

im thinking it may be my fault i noticed it after i took out the screw for the wrist sling. checked online and they said the bushing can be replaced or the threads tapped out. its only the top two threads. ive took off wrist slings and stabilizer's many time never had this happen. the top two may be cross threaded. :bash:

Since your mail box is full I figure you are probably ok with this posted.
If it is the top two threads I really would not worry much about it. AMO standards have 5/16" 24 thread call out with stud length of 1/2". That's close to 12 heavy thread contact! Even with a sling you should still have at least 8. I've lost the first two threads in a lot of bows where the 5/16-24 was tapped directly into the aluminum (gone completely!). Never a single issue! At one time I thought Mathews was using a 303 stainless insert that was rather soft. If it is 303 or brass/bronze you could probably just wax the screw you just removed and chase it back straight with that. More than likely you won't even need a tap, just string wax on the hardened screw. Or it may be easier to just use the stabilizer, which ever is easier to get going straight and apply force to.
I can not remember if Mathews uses a threaded bushing or not :dunno: I'm thinking they use to, but not sure on the new Chill. If it is pressed in it could very well have been damaged when they used the pneumatic press. If that is the case the screw you removed was in there just fine so the stabilizer should go in there just fine too.
I know it sucks to pay that much money and get something that is not absolutely 100% perfect. But of it were me I'd just screw my stabilizer in there and forget about it. And I'm an anal retentive Bass Turd! :chuckle: Taking it to a Mathews dealer would probably result in more noticeable damage than just two crossed threads!

took it back to the shop i purchased it at and they used a tap to rethread the two top threads that got pushed over :tup:
