Its about time for our annual thread with the season about to get underway.
Lets keep a running list of all the bulls killed by our members on here for 2014.
Post a pic or 2 and a brief story here about your success and we'll see what we've got at the end of the season.

Thanks! Those damn treestands can give ya the lowest of lows and the highest of highs. It really is a rush though, looking 20 feet down into a herd of elk around you that have no clue you exist is something I hope every hunter gets to see in their lifetime. The approach of a big bull is enough to kill ya though.

This is my first bull I've ever killed. I've shot a couple cows so I was excited when me and some buddies drew the Margaret bull tag. I just posted the full story on the forum. You can read it here: http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,161178.0.html (http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,161178.0.html)
The short story is this: on the evening of September 20th, we located him with some bugles from up high, snuck through all kinds of brush and creek bottoms to get in his kitchen. Bugled and he came marching in to 5 yards. Arrow ripped through both lungs and he died up where we first heard him bugle. I'm pretty sure this was the biggest bull I saw in 9 days of hunting and I saw A LOT of bulls. It was a dream hunt and I couldn't have asked for a better way for it to end!
-
Nice toad. I have heard guys talking about Margaret like its not as good anymore, lost faith in it. But sure looks like its still worth putting in for right there haha.
-

I knew 5 other guys that drew that tag and all but one of them killed respectable bulls. It's true that there aren't a whole lotta "mashers" up there but the bull-to-cow ratio alone makes it an incredibly fun hunt. Where can you go where you have bulls fired up throughout the whole season?
-
Great bull for the Margaret!I didnt know there were any left that size. Way to get it done!

Not huge, but my biggest bull.

My Westside archery bull. This was a right place right time Situation. We had put in many miles of hiking the first few days of the season but this bull was taken on a small piece of private property.I'll post the full story later but to make it short, the elk were feeding out of the timbr into a new clearcut in front of me mid day with the wind perfectly in my favor. I was getting ready to draw on the lead cow at forty yards when this guy stepped out and stopped quartering away at 62 yards. Sometimes I'd rather be lucky than good!

342 Wenas Wildlife Area Spike. I was told by the game warden, that I killed the only bull in the GMU this modern season. That was as of yesterday. I'm sure there will be more when the bad weather hits. Ran right at me within 50 yards in an open meadow. Down he went.

Well I started out passing on 2 spikes the first week of my Observatory bull tag. :o After that I didn't see a darn elk until Wednesday the following week around 1:40 a mile away. I hauled ass to pick up my buddy and jump off the cliff and big my first bug bull. I closed the distance to 360 yards and dropped him. All three of use spent the night in canyon because it was to dangerous to hike out the 1 1/4 mile hike out of the rough creek of barber springs. It was cold and wet but I had a little tarp in the pack and we had a fire. The bull was wreath it tough. We rested after the first pack out and returned for the rest the next day. Well here he is

Well done sir! That's a well earned and beautiful bull!

Idaho. Three for four for the archery hunters under 60
Nice bulls, I will be Elk hunting in Idaho next year, its nice to see some encouragement photos like yours. I'd mount those for sure.
Id love to hunt in Idaho but I cant even begin to think of where I would hunt. I am not familiar with Id at all.
idaho the last two years has been tough, the elks habits have changed due to the wolves. Still love to hunt it but certain areas have really changed. Nice job guys!!

My 2014 Rosie bull.
Shot this guy on my 6th day elk hunting. First three days I hunted with my buddy, and after that I was solo. I was farther from the truck that I should have been and came into a really elky area, slowed down, started still hunting, and found two elk feeding in an alder “clearing”. Shouldered my rifle, the one with antlers picked up his head to look at me and that gave me a shooting lane to plug him in the neck at about 80 yards.
Gutted him on the spot and took out a small load of meat out (Friday evening), got some assistance the next day (sat) hauling loads, and finally finished hauling him Sunday.
Between this guy and my deer, both of my freezers are packed.

Heading down to his place in the morn to run these two and my early season bull through the grinder

Very nice! What does something like that cost to get done?

I'd say 1300 to 1600 depending on who does it. I did mine as a wall pedestal which added a few hundred to the cost.
