absolutely love that shot !!,he hung out for two days ?any evidence he came back,?they don't usually just wondering
-
thats odd that he has already shed all of his velvet and put all that color on, all the bulls and bucks that I have seen still hanging on to their fuzz, If I didn't know any better I would say that pic is old!
-
Ive only seen bulls with very light almost white colored antlers lately
-
yeah, we went out yesterday and seen 4 bulls and all but one still had most of their velvet, the other had little bits here and there but didn't have any color on them yet, usually the bulls dont get that much color till beginning of sept

Mr. Bear....
While I appreciate your skepticism.. why would I put an old pic on here? I wanted to share my excitement with all....but as luck would have it (see title of post)...always a buzz kill in the crowd! Oh...and Mr. Bear....would love to see all those bulls in velvet you're talking about. A picture is worth a thousand words!
Good luck with your hunt!

Not sure I've ever seen a mature branched bull in velvet on the west side after August 15th. :dunno:
Nootka, That looks like one heck of a good spot to ambush with a bow. Hope we get an "After" picture next week! Good luck
-
I wasn't trying to be a buzz kill, however I lived on the westside in longview for ten years,so it's not like they shed at different times of the year than the east side, I was only commenting on how much color it has already! and if you want look at the trail cam section on this forum, 99% of pics from the west side are just now stripping their velvet
-
I was out looking behind the house and the bulls here all done shedding and the horns are looking just like that hope he sticks around for you he looks to be in great shape.

It's stuff like this that makes me not want to log on to this site any more. Every Elk this guy has seen are you kidding me. While scouting this year in Manashtash (early August) we saw bulls in lower elevations no velvet same day Quartz mountain full velvet on multiple bulls. And by the way you basically called him a liar, that is so insulting.

Completely agree with RayDog. Beautiful bull. Hope you see him again in a few weeks!
-
I saw a bull two weeks ago that was rubbed off and colored up (sagebrush bull)and last Sunday I saw a respectable 4x4 mule deer who was stripped off and colored up (as much as a sagebrush deer can be colored) :dunno:

I have two bulls in half velvet as of the 16th. I'll post pics later
