Sometimes having your mobility limited pays off! When I was in high school I broke my ankle playing football two weeks before the hunting season. I hobbled on crutches about a half a mile out to a spot over a waterhole, and sat there long enough to shoot a nice three point . The hard part for me was being patient as I love spot and stalk.

:yeah: If you can still move very slowly or get to a decent spot to sit then you might be good to go.

I feel for ya-I tore my Achilles tendon couple of weeks ago. Two months at least on crutches with a boot. Murphys law dictates these type of things always have crappy timing.Ain't that the truth! Found out yesterday I need to have hernia surgery. Doc recommends I not wait til after the season. :bash:

One of my hunting buddies broke his femur in June. He went hunting in late season with his bow(and his cane), and dropped a nice 3pt buck. He got back to the truck and waited for us to show back up so we could pack it out for him.

season off.Over 6 months in a cast and when I got the cast off I stepped off a ladder and busted my Tibia.
So right back into a cast for another 2 and a half months.. I guess life could be worse.

Our bodies just ain't what rely used to be. Maybe we should start a bad luck chuck hunting camp where all the injured hang out.worn out bodies might need a couple acres of parking to and camp for all of use worn out hunters maybe a training camp so the young bucks can pack out for us

Proalince orthopedic associates in Renton. To notch docs. They are scheduling a MRI now to verify the cartilidge damage. Doc is pretty sure about that. Than surgery afterwards.The fun part is the dvd they give you post op.
You can have a dvd viewing party.
How are you in tight spaces? Depending on the size of the tunnel, it can be interesting.
Suggest you wear a blind fold. They usually provide one.

Seems some of the patients are a little overweight and could not fit in the tube.

One more thing. If you have a deductible, when you check in for the surgery, they ask for a check.I got pretty good insurance. I have to check that though.

I put the ear plugs in and they've had to wake me every time I've had an MRI.

Whoever said torn meniscus. You were right on. They are calling today to schedule surgery. The closest date they have is the 26th of this month. With the scope doc said I should be able to get out hunting for the late archery season.If it was not a meniscus, you would have been in a lot of pain.
Meniscus tears happen a little at a time over years. Mine was tearing over 30 years before surgery.

I believe mine was doing just that. I just think it finally gave out. Doc said in the mri my bone that the tear is near is stressed. He said it was pretty lit up in the mri. I am sure they are going to check that out.I concur with others that the surgery is the easiest to bounce back from.
The stress tear happens over and over again over a period of time until it hampers your walking.
My doc said I had stress tears over a 30 year period.

Are you icing?
Don't bend the knee.
Wiggle the toes.
The trick is to walk. When climbing stairs, straight leg. No bending of the knee.
Once the swelling goes down, bend the knee. Don't rush it.
Once the swelling is gone, you are home free. Don't push the knee bend.
When the swelling goes down, you will have to practice walking normally. Your hip muscles will need to be retrained.
You will favor one side and the muscles in your hip will need to be retrained.
