Post by: Bama76 on August 28, 2014, 03:37:15 PM
Can someone give me an accurate identification for these.  The most common response from my coworkers is that it is a type of elderberry.   Mainly i wanna know if bear would eat em??

I'm not a bear expert but I'm pretty sure a bear will eat just about anything. Main thing is to find the scat and see if you can decipher what they've been eating. But I wouldn't doubt they are eating them.

Thinking along the same lines KC.   Looks like a grape, but definitely not elderberry.   Doesn't look like any of my grape leaves though, and not really a good representation of Oregon grape.   Interesting

Not sure on this one, the leaves are close to a laurel. But the berries are def not laurel. Hmm

Indian plum grows in clusters of only a few, salal berries have red leaves growing along with the bunches, saskatoons grow in clusters, still cant ID them. its gotta be a wild grape of some sort. here is one good page for ID but thats not on here. http://northernbushcraft.com/berries/ (http://northernbushcraft.com/berries/)
