This is a little off the chart but always seems to bother me :dunno: Maybe I am the only one that ever notices but it seems strange to me .. I have noticed a lot of photos of Bowhunters taking pictures of there trophies and not only on HW but FB and other places where the hunter is posing with there animal and their quiver has no arrows missing .. Is it to look good or what is the reason ?You would think if you killed something with an arrow there would be one missing :dunno: Someone fill me in
-
Maybe they find the arrow that was used to shoot the animal, and stick it back in the quiver. :dunno:
-
After shooting the animal I always look for the arrow to see what kind of blood in on it. That is if it hasn't dropped in you view. Arrows are darn expensive too.
-
most have no blood on them ..maybe they clean them up for appearance purposes :dunno: :chuckle:

:yeah: that's what I would think.
-
:dunno: as I don't bow hunt but maybe 1 with the bow and a full quiver :dunno:

your right there. But if there is none missing then how are you looking ?
-
I haven't cleaned mine off until a couple days later.

I always clean re-quiver mine.
-
Mine stay with the trophy. The tag (so I remember the day and year) and the arrow go in the rack.
-
I always re-quiver. All it takes is one fall, one slip and you are sewing yourself up with fishing line in the field.

Ok maybe it is the drugs I am taking for my knee but you said you seeing pictures of people with the animals with their quivers not missing any arrows. What I have done is make the shot. Deer slumps of and moves off into the thick stuff. I waited 15-30 minutes go out of my stand/blind. Looked for my arrow, if it was a pass through shot, to see if I have good blood. Put it back in my quiver and go looking for the animal. If I then took a picture I would have a full quiver of arrows. Now if it wasn't a pass through then that is a very good question.
-
Think some are missing my point .. I am saying when your taking pictures in the field with your trophy why is there no arrows missing ..not when you get home and reload it .
I miss a lot so I always have arrows missing :chuckle: :chuckle:
-
I see what you are saying. I try and find the arrow, never wipe it off, and requiver it. I don't reuse (not filling a ton of tags helps this) arrows once they have been shot into a critter.

I don't think anyone is talking about when they're at home. I would assume it's exactly as Russ is saying - before looking for the animal they go and collect their arrow, put it back in quiver, start the blood trail to trophy, take a pic with trophy and full quiver (assuming they only took the one shot). Bam, full quiver. :dunno:
-
:yeah:

Maybe I did not explain myself which I seem to be good at :dunno: :chuckle: I should have said a full quiver of cleaned arrows .. I would think being a bowhunter you would like to keep the arrow you killed something with and would love to show off a bloody arrow in your quiver if you could find it ..if you can not find it then the quiver should not be full .. I guess I just got bored this afternoon ... :chuckle: :chuckle:

The last 2 year I haven't wiped mine off for a week or so. I guess some hunters I guess have the Monk syndrome. If it wasn't a complete pass through or you didn't find the arrow you 100% correct how do the have a full quiver :dunno:. Maybe the carry 2 quivers full of arrows. One for a spare.
-
Ah I gotcha, yeah I don't know why you'd clean up a bloody arrow either? lol
-
sometimes you cant tell from a picture if the arrow is bloody or not in the quiver, arrows are just to small to be able to see that detail
-
Doesn't appear to be the general rule in the 2014 buck thread of those that have already harvested deer. :dunno:

No ...

I am just curious behind the reason why ! Better just leave it at that :dunno:

It's "Monk Syndrome" in my case. Once I look over the blood on the arrow to add to my information about the hit I clean that baby off as well as I can and then clean it ever better when I get home. Anal retentive archery. ;)

I hope u remove the broadhead :yike:
-
I love to leave the blood on my arrows from years past So when the gamie comes he can say ...it looks like you already killed something ..that's just me though

Yep, disassemble it, clean it, and make sure it dries well to avoid rust.
-
I am wondering too if it isn't from guys leaving animals out overnight?
It seems like it is the thing to do nowadays with the advent of all the southern tree stand hunters who hunt private property. There is even a story on here where a guy left one out with the hot weather that we have been having. It just isn't deer anymore either, Elk, Bear. Shoot it, leave it out, replace your arrow, bam!
I know what you are insinuating though......

Hard to lose an arrow in the farmers field. :chuckle:
-
When I shoot a critter I never chase it down.I wait an hour or so then go look for it.While Im waiting I will have lunch and in most cases head back out to the truck and I always reload and get my processing pack and a pack board.
-
That's always a good thing to wait an hour unless you watch it flop over right in front of you :dunno: :chuckle:

Were they all broken when you were done? That was a lot of lost money.
-
1 thing could be different quivers hold a different amount of arrows. oh that guy only has 4 but it may be full.
-
How about this one i dont even have an arrow or quiver on my bow :yike:
-
I dont know everyone is different. I would put mine back in the quiver if i found it.

Showing Dinker how not to miss? He get a deer yet?
-
Yeah 63yds!
-
Nice....is that first blood for the boy? 63 is a long poke.
-
I shot that deer sorry i was confused. Dink couldn't hit a barn at 63 yards. He has yet to draw blood.
-
I found my arrow and placed it back then the quiver.

Poor Dinker. I figured the way you were holding it you shot it but wasn't sure. Has he had any other shots yet or just the one wiff?
-
There was a 2nd wiff. Same spot we got rained out,on the one day and hitched a ride out. Im taking out for 6 days over thanksgiving to try his hand at elk and deer.
-
Rain/Hail out....that was still a fun outing. He needs to get that first one done.
-
I thought you were supposed to lick the arrow clean? :dunno: :chuckle:
