My wife's first time bowhunting and she's successful. Her and I still hunted opening day and did a lot of glassing/hiking. A little more than she expected so I set my blind up on a very well used trail between feeding and bedding areas. After two days of blind sitting, she got an opportunity but missed. I'd been still hunting, stalking and glassing so the 3rd day I said I wanted to sit in the blind with her but in the shooting position. An hour into the morning a nice 4pt came by and I took full advantage of the opportunity. We quickly switched chairs since we had to wait the standard 30 minutes to check on my deer and low and behold, a nice fat muley doe comes in at 22 yds and she double lungs it. Slick Trick lodged in the knuckle of the off shoulder. She followed the blood trail and even gutted half of it after I got it started. We had a fantastic week together and now she wants to go again next year.

Good job buddy! Congrats to you and your wife.

Awesome man!

Awesome. Congrats.

My wife is still ecstatic. I downloaded all the pics, gave her the SIM Card and she's still emailing everyone, LOL. :IBCOOL:
PS - I missed an opportunity the day prior also by ranging a fence post near a deer trail I expected to be used. Too bad the deer came out at the next fence post(about 12yds farther)and I didn't notice. My arrow went right under a big fat muley doe. Kinda glad I missed since I ended up with a nice buck.

Good job, great story. Nothing better then common interest with the other half. Nice camp, Question. is that some sort of portable, collapsible picnic table?
-
Congratulations   Great that you got to share it together. My wife said that's a great date together...

That's my Double Bull blind leaning up against the picnic table if that's what you're refering to.

Very cool, Now what is the reason you didn't let her shoot the buck? :chuckle:

Kudos to YJ Guide Service. My wife and I paid for an unguided 'access only' hunt but Craig went much farther with his service and really shared his vast knowledge of the land and deer travel patterns. That much country would have taken many trips to learn but Craig really shortened that learning curve. Great guy. We've already put down a deposit for next season. Very professional service from a very experienced hunter/guide.
Oh, thanx a lot Craig for the help w/my buck on the back of your quad. That certainly saved us some sweat, LOL.

From our positions in the Dbl Bull blind, she had no shot at this deer. With a bow you've got to be positioned just right to be able to pull and shoot thru the windows available without your arrow hitting the front of the blind or your elbow hitting the back of the blind when drawn. Either would definitely spook a deer.

Bowpredator - We got home and unpacked Thursday evening from deer camp. Left for elk camp early Fri morn. Just got home(Monday). No elk but ready to come home. Buddy in camp shot a cougar. We trailed it over 400yds but the blood ran out in an overgrown reprod. 3 hrs trailing Sun nite w/flashlights running low and 2 more hrs this morning. Looks like he hit it in the brisket area. Pass thru, artery type blood but not enough of it and nothing but pin drops the last 100yds then nothing.
Good luck to you.
