Currently I am shooting Beman Hunter 400 carbon arrows with 125 grain interlock broadheads. I have never killed an animal with this setup yet but the archery shop guy said it was good. Im just curious what other bowhunters believe is the best carbon arrow and broadhead setup available? I heard the new Axis carbon arrows are good...as long as the Montec G5 broadheads?

Gold tip Green label or Gold label hunter are hard to beat.
-
Gold Tip Hunters and Thunderhead 85gr...................does the job for me.
-
Im new to bowhunting but i like the Gold tip XT Hunter(Green Label) and a 100 grain muzzy
-
Easton Epic C2's with wraps and 85 Gr. Slick Tricks......Damn deadly combo
-
I have no idea which is the best, but I like the small diameter of the easton axis they penetrate my block target deeper than any other arrow shot at it. Wac Em's, Shuttle T-locks, Slicktricks and Montecs to name a few, couldn't go wrong with any of these heads.
-
Goldtips with Montecs for the compound
Goldtips with Magnus Stingers for the Trad.
I'd really hate to be on the recieving end of any of them.
-
Heck I don't know, but since the invention of the bow and arrow began with a wooden stick, sinew string, wooden arrows and bone or chipped rock for broadheads...I don't think you can go too wrong. One more reason I went back to "traditional" and shoot Zwickey 125 gr. 2 blade eskimo's...just keep em sharp and stick em where it counts.
Good luck anyway.
Oh, and when I did shoot a compound, I always liked Thunderhead 125's. for what it's worth.
-
I use Carbon Force Radial Weave STL Hunter 300 and Pro 300 arrows and Modoc broadheads in 125gr. I am thinking about trying the Slick Tricks.
-
Gold Tip Pro Hunters with 100gr Wac 'EM. This is the first year using this combonation. I used to use Beman ICS hunter and Muzzys. With the new set up I defiantly shot tighter groups. However the old set worked just fine on elk.
-
I use easton axis with wraps and blazer, 100 grain slick trick magnums, 487 grains total. I just shot a deer on the 11th and it only went 35 yards and there was a huge blood trail.
-
Your Bemans are as good as they get and will perform as good or better than anything out there. Just a matter of personal choice.
Look at Slick Tricks broadheads.........you will love them in the way they fly and what they do when hitting game.
-
Read my thread in the Elk forum...."Montana Archery Success!" I just got back from Montana and killed a Whitetail buck and a 6x6 Bull Elk with the SAME EXACT ARROW! No joke, the Elk went 50 yds. and fell over, he was dead with in 10 minutes!
Beman 340's with 100gr. Slick Tricks. Not gonna get me to change that combo.
-
In my opinion the most enjoyable carbon based arrow material is Wood. I use 23/64 cedar spined at 80 - 85 #'s with 190 grain Grizzlies.
My 93 # Osage bow really spits them out and the 4 point elk only went 30 yards and was out for the count.
I think this is a fairly common setup and should be a good starting point.

Goldtips topped off with muzzy 100gr. broadheads............
-
Full Metal Jackets tipped with Slick Tricks
-
I would say one of the best arrow - broadhead combinations would be: Easton A/C Superslim 400's with a 100 gr. Montec by G5 Outdoors... It has worked great for me over the past 3 years and has even went through 2 front shoulders on big bulls!
-
I've shot Goldtip external component carbon arrows since they came out, and have never had a reason to change. The last 3 years have killed elk with them tipped with 125gr Sonic broadheads. Prior to that my Goldtips were all tipped with Thunderheads.
-
I could do this all day!
Easton Axis
Beman MFX
Slick Trick
Wackem Exit
Gold Tip And Carbon Express, usually] are too light for washington legal limit. And adding 125 grain broadheads ifluences the spine of the arrow resulting in a weakened arrow.
-
The BEST arrow and broadheads are the ones you are using at the time!!! I currently use Gold Tip Pro Hunters and Silver Flame 100 gr. I'm takin them to Africa next June and don't plan on changin them any time soon!!! Good Luck
-
Gold Tip XT's with fully sharpened Muzzy 100's/3.
-
Beman 340s with Cabelas 100Gr Mini Lazer pros. two pass throughs on deer and complete penetration on my elk at 40 yds.
-
I shoot Easton St. Epic with 100 grain Muzzy 3 blades. The total arrow weight is about 432 grains. To be legal in Washington I need 420 +/- a little. I pull about 70-71lbs. I have been thinking of trying a slightly lighter arrow to get my weight down to 420. This is just to shoot a flatter flying arrow for longer shots. Misjudging distance is probably one of the bigger mistakes people make. A flatter arrow will eliminate some of the possible problems IMO.
-
I shoot Beman Black Max 400's with 100 grn Muzzy's and 4 fletch Bohning blazers. Zipped through my bull this year no problem.

my cousin put a three blade muzzy through both shoulderblades of an elk.

What you currently have will be fine. If you come up with a reason to change then several of the choices above might be good. Its important to match the arrow/broadhead set up with your bow and game.
whats the draw weight? hunting just deer or deer+elk+bear?
I use a Easton Axis with wraps and blazer veins with Thunderhead 125's. With the broadheads... with most of the major brands the broadhead will work fine if its matched to the arrow weight and stiffness and you keep a virgin blade on them (never touched a target or animal before - unless its a resharpen style like the G5 thats super sharp)
I like arrows with near target arrow quality straightness... like .003 or less but thats really not an absolute rule.
-
As long as you can hit what you are aiming at and your broadheads are razor sharp. There will be no problem unless you take a marginal shot. Personnaly, I've been shooting goldtip xt arrows for the last handful of years. I'm very happy with them.
-
ACC 3-71's and Slick Trick Mags = :beatdeadhorse:
-
Gold Tip XT Hunters and 125 grain Shuttle T's seem to work pretty well for me. The Shuttle T's did not fly "just like practice points" as advertised, but still shoot well and do a number on animals.
-
Easton Axis 340's with magnus stinger buzzcut's with bleeder blades or the Montec G5's. Those two broadheads flew the closest to a field point that I have ever shot and there was no tuning or adjusting sites necessary.
-
GET THE BEST ACC TOP OFF WITH THE NEW NAP HELL RAZOR ,
-
Arrows are a personal choice. I use Beman ISC 400's with fletched with Blazer vanes and use either a 100 grain Magnus Stinger four bade or a G5 Montec.
-
My favorite is the Easton 340 Full Metal Jacket and the 100 gr. Montec G5.
