Last Night Decided To Go For A Hunt Looking For Bear Number 2. SItting 12 Yards Off The Road I. A Slash Pile Overlooking A Clearcut. After About Half Hour I Heard A Small Branch Break. I Watched For A Minute And Saw Brown Moving Through The Alders And Watched It Disappear Into A Tank Trap. I Thought For Sure Deer, I Layed The Rifle Back In My Lap And Watched To See It Go By. When It Came Up I Thought Cat!. At That Point It Was No More Than 12 Yards. As I Raised The Rifle To Make A Left Hand Shot My Arm Hit A Root On The Stump I Was On And Made A Snap. The Cat Froze Looking At Me. I Can't Belive It Stayed Long Enough For A Shot. It Jumped About 4 Feet Straight Up, And In About 2 Leaps Covered About 15 Yards Across The Road, And Up The Bank. I Could Hear It Going Through The Blackberry Bushes And Reprod For A Bit. 20 Minutes Later On The Road I Went To Look For Blood, And Found Chunks Of Lung. Began To Track As It Was Getting Dark, And Found It About 25 Yards In. The Most Nerve Racking Track Job Ever For Me.
Turned Out To Be A 2-3 Year Old Female At Around 100Pounds. This Has Been A Once In A Lifetime Year For Me So Far With My First Bear In The Spring, And My First Cougar.

If you weren't sure it was down tracking through that blackberry brush and I'm sure with extremely limited visibility probably had the anal pucker factor kicked in til you saw it. Been there done that with a bear.

  sweat hunt Congrats. I had a shot with my bow years ago but buck fever F ed It up for my I draw my bow with out the release, because I was shaking to much. The cat was 10 to 15 feet way and didn't even know I was standing behind him. He was a big tom. I draw but I started thinking I never shot fingers with my compound before and it was my first bow season. I let down clipped the trigger on started to draw. The cat moved to the right and I moved to the left to take the shot. :bash: I then slipped on the wet log :yike: CAT OF A LIFETIME GONE :'( but It was cool to see him and almost bag one Congrats again nice trophy

Congratts Sled  That is very cool.

Tonight We Had The Tenderloin For Dinner. Fried It In Butter With Salt, And Pepper With A Little Garlic. Didn't Want To Kill The Natural Taste.
It Was Outstanding!. Like A Pork Chop For Sure.

Wife Says Pork Chop, Or Chicken Taste. I Say Damn Good Meat. More Pork With No Game Taste. I Don't Know What Is Better, The Spring Bear Or The Cat. Almost Rather Have Either On Over Deer Or elk :yike:
