Title: When are YOU going for MF Season?
Post by: Seahawk12 on September 27, 2014, 09:44:37 AM: I've read hundreds of threads and many comments regarding when hunters go for the modern firearm deer season. (I'm an avid reader and this sight can become addicting. ;) )
Some of you will be out from the 11th to the 19th.
Some will be out for opening weekend, but are not able to hunt during the work week.
I am very interested to hear what you all have planned as to hunt schedules.

I'll start it out.
I got volunteered to coach my daughters youth soccer team this year which plays their games on Sundays. That means I will miss 7 Seahawks games and opening weekend of the MF season. So, I plan on leaving for camp on Monday morning and hunting until either Thursday night or Friday morning. (Or less if/when I harvest something.) I'll be hunting the Eastside.

Post by: GameHunter1959 on September 27, 2014, 10:19:41 AM: We usually head over Thursday around 12 noon. Setup camp in the evening and drive around checking out the deer. Friday morning we get up early and go check out deer, and hang around camp the rest of the day. Hunt Sat, Sun, and usually head home on Monday (hunt the morning). Generally speaking; the area we hunt is shot up pretty good. We would rather head elsewhere, where the hunting is still good. I usually head back out Wed or Thursday to another area, after a 2-3 day break. I make my own schedule and travel on the road, so I have the luxury of hunting the majority of the season.

I tagged out yesterday (Multi-Season Archery), so I will play guide and camp cook for our group. We hunt Eastern WA as well. Good luck to you and your group this season! Be safe..

Post by: jackelope on September 27, 2014, 10:57:40 AM: This trip will be kid focused, Doug. The guys will be back for late archery. That's not to say I wouldn't pull the trigger if given the opportunity. Just saying my rifle likely won't be the first to bark.

I think its a fair trade. I would rather spend my time with my kids while I have the chance. There will be more hunting and football seasons.

When I was single I used to hunt for weeks at a time with archery.
Some day I will get to do it again.

Any more hunting schedules?

I'm just asking dates. Are you going for opening weekend? The entire 11th-19th? Midweek?

Post by: Jingles on September 27, 2014, 08:09:47 PM: Well where the 7 day horseback pack trip into the wilderness got cancelled I anticipate packing my stuff in the 7th or 8th. ride the stock back out and then hike back in so I don't have to worry about feeding the stock while in, not much grass where I'll be.

Post by: Hunterman on September 27, 2014, 08:18:24 PM: Because of work, I will only be able to hunt Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays, all season. It looks like we'll be hunting Ft. Lewis. Its close to the house, and the girls want to hunt the places my Dad and I hunted.

But depending on the regs next year I might convert to Muzzy deer and elk stay in one camp for both seasons.

Post by: steen on October 07, 2014, 09:36:57 PM: This year I'm heading to the Twisp/Carlton area the second weekend leaving Wed. night and coming home Sunday night. It will be just myself unless a friend can get the time off. I'm looking forward to it just for down time from work after a 70 hour week last week ( including 5 hours of hunter safety class) and this week starting out with 11 hour average days! My daughter is coming to visit the first weekend so she and I may hunt near home that weekend just to hang out or we'll ride horse for a day! We always finish the season....end of Oct. for blacktail near home cause we can.

When I get done there, (I have an elk tag and two deer tags so it could be a while) If there is time, I'll stop by the NE corner to see if I can fill my Washington deer tag too. If there's not enough time, I'll be back over to the NE corner for the late season And if I still have any Idaho deer tags left, I'll hit the panhandle for the whitetail rut.

Going to load the pickup before work, then go to work, and head out to the property we hunt and set up camp with one of the guys from our hunting camp that comes over from Olympia. Friday morning I'm going to dfive in to work and head back to hunting camp after quiting time. My old man and the rest of the guys will roll in Friday afternoon.

I have the whole season off. Going to hunt tough and see if I can't scrounge up a mature Palouse whitetail.

Nope no dummy camps for me, zzzzzzzzzz thats my reel with a big sucker on the line.

Forest Service installed a pooper for me though 20 yards from my camp spot.

Back to camp, gotta check on my visitor, hopefully she doesn't steal my food, but I don't think moose lime people food. :chuckle: :peep:

At least I have been able to get out a couple times for a couple hours to hunt release birds to get the dog out. Good luck to all.

I get this weekend but I have school from Monday through Thursday. If I can connect with a nice muley in the next two days I'll only have next Friday for an opportunity as the weekend is busy and I won't be able to go hunting.
