Coming up on the last day to buy points in Wyoming. I almost forgot myself.
-
Yea, I got mine last week.
-
Bought mine yesterday. I am all the way up to 2 points now for elk, deer and lope. :chuckle:
-
got mine. First year building points for there.
-
I think it is pretty smart for Wyoming. Think about all the money they bring in each year from sportsman who are just "building points" :yike: They don't have to do a thing for the money, not a game animal will be taken etc. On top of that, they pretty much can guarantee that the people buying points will eventually start actually applying for permits and thus buying their license, tags and spending even MORE money there. :twocents:
-
I usually have it all done in July, last week it hit me and I thought OH MY I missed out on a year. I was very glad to know I still had time to send my money away and they were more than glad to take it.
-
Bought mine back on the 19th. Deer and antelope
-
Got mine last week. Just deer and elk. Up to 2 now
-

Are you going to apply next year? Have you done idaho moose?
-
We will probably start actually applying next year for some permits, at least I will for deer and lope. I have looked over their regs and also done some online research but what have you guys found as the best route to gather info on what units to put in for based on your hunt aspirations?
-
I'll probably apply for antelope next year. How is the elk hunting over there? I should start buying points for that too
-
Thanks for posting this. Almost forgot!
-
2 Deer
4 Elk
6 Antelope
14 Moose
14 Sheep
Getting closer.
-
3 for deer, elk, and pronghorn for me. I decided I'm too far behind for moose and sheep. Besides I heard they did something this year that will make it even harder for guys like me to ever have a chance. $100 a bonus point per species for 2+ decades without a guarantee? No thanks.
-
forgot to buy mine two years in a row and lost em all, now i'm starting over. Thanks for the reminder, almost forgot again. :bash:
-
bought mine, my girlfriends and my son's long ago, but talked it over with our kids and just bought my daughter and my girlfriends daughter points for antelope, deer and elk minutes ago. with the youth points going for $10 each, hard to beat and they'll have a decent number by the time they graduate.
-
Man of God,
At what age can I start buying them for the chitlins?
-
I bought for elk for the first time this year. I figure in 5 years when I am
40 it will be time to start trying to put them to work.

That's about the only way they will have a shot in the future runningboard. Very cool. I'm glad my reminder helped some folks.

I was broke for a couple years and couldn't afford to buy them... once my points were taken away I haven't felt like buying into WY again... maybe that will change. Losing points is a tough pill to swallow.
-
Iswallowed that pill in Maine once, missed applying for moose there ONE year. Made me ill.
-
Do you lose your pts if you miss just one year or two?
-
Maine was one year. Not sure if they are still that way. The states seem to be in constant flux. Many have a 3 year grace. Maine was brutal.
-
How many points does is on average take to get an antelope tag over there?
-
I think two or three is plenty for most units.
-
More like 4 plus for a real good unit
-
What is it in WA? I didn't apply this year for anything. Did I lose my points?
-
So with 3 antelope points I should apply. Gotta do some research and figure out where I'd like to hunt. Always wanted to hunt speed goats

We will have 3 going into next year and from everything I have read 3-4 will get you a decent unit and 6+ will give you a chance at the best units. I have never chased lopes and don't need to shoot a record breaker so just a decent unit is perfectly fine with me. I will make my decision more off of amount of public land versus trophy quality :twocents:

I don't even know what decent buck or a giant really are yet lol

I know what they are but judging them is a completely different story. Its one thing to tell the difference between a 280" bull and a 320" but when the difference in lopes is in the single inch, even half inch mark can mean difference between decent and giant... :yike:
-
Max for elk and lopes 0 for deer can't wait for October 23 to get here fast enough
-
got mine. Im pretty sure im at five for elk. have thought about jumping in on the deer too but will probably just stick with elk. one of these years I will start putting in and hopefully draw a tag before to long.
-
I agree buy the kids points for sure.
Here is a screen capture of my points in wyoming.
I used my deer points this year and had a super hunt. We do not talk of how I shoot with buck fever though.
