Starting to get stoked going to Montana deer hunting 3rd week of November. Taking my son on his first deer hunt, wish we had the hunting here that they have in the other western states.
-
That should be a very quality hunting experience for you two all the way around!!!

Did you draw a unit?

I'm leaving the 8 th to Momtana taking my youngest son and 4 other friends Hunting Muleys out of st Regis can't wait
-
Good luck! Son and I have had good hunts around Lewistown, Fort Peck Reservoir and Roundup. It's fun seeing all the deer, turkeys, waterfowl, antelope over there.
-
Id like to look into buying OTC deer and elk tags for Montana. Ready for an out of state adventure.
-
We will be there the week before thanksgiving chasing rutting mulies. Pretty excited!
-
Leaving Thursday myself.
-
I can't wait I will be in Montana the end of this week for the first time hunting.
-
Anyone going to Region 4?
-
I live in area 4 now.

I live in area 4 now.
have the white tails started to recover yet in your area?
-
No, the southeast portion of area 4 didn't get hit as hard. I was out hunting pheasants down by the Mo a few days ago and could still see carcasses laying down there from last year. Its bad when theres so many carcasses that the coyotes can't get to them all.
-
What a shame . Used to be a premier area for whitetails. I stopped hunting in 4 three years ago after seeing more carcasses than live deer. Hopefully recover within a few years. Love that area up in 4 though. I know the locals up there are starting to see more and more grizzlies
thanks for update

I was antelope hunting up between the Teton and Marias rivers off the bootlegger and only saw 10 deer in 3 days. We did see a moose down by the Teton though.
-
Im headed over to fort peck lake the 14th, awesome place, love seeing 50+ deer a day and the insane rutting mulies. last year it went from 60 degrees to -20 in less then 48 hours so that was a bit crazy
-
I will be in western Montana rattling mountain whitetails the last 2 weeks of November! Can't wait.

Obviously you probably already know this. But the CMR closes on November 15 for Mulies.
Get a spotting scope and go watch the brutes that hang out on the east side of the lake.
That part of eastern mt is my homeland.
