10yo got his first Grouse yesterday!

Was trying to get the 8yo a shot for his first blood, since the 10yo had taken a rabbit already...

We saw plenty, but the 8yo was hamstrung by a misfiring 1915 single shot Iver Johnson 410, and probably buck fever! (I have since diagnosed the problem and fixed the old pop-gun!) He had 2 misfires and 2 misses.
Finally let big brother have the shotgun seat and he took this bird off a tank trap mound at about 35 yards.
Saw 6 birds and one bunny, frustrating day for little brother! Will go again tomorrow weather permitting.

 good size rabbit and smile on the kid. Best of luck tomorrow

Right on! Good job kids (and dad)!!

That is an awesome smile of pride!
Well done.
Kudos to you for teaching them to hunt.

Little brother got in the shotgun seat and said, "[Big brother] is shivering!" (He wasn't cold!)

Got out again today. Saw 8!
10 yo got one and missed one.
I got one because 8yo didn't see it.
8yo missed two.
3 others managed to get away without a shot.
Here's a pic of the 8yo after he knocked a couple feathers off.

Here's how close that one was (fist sized shot pattern, that was his excuse anyway!)

Right on. great pics. Good job kiddos

Awesome! I have a four year old and 9 month old, can't wait until they are old enough. What age did you start your boys?
-
Nice browntails

Richardt, they've been shooting since about 4yo, I custom fitted a bolt 22 for them. (Also cut down the Iver Johnson 410 to fit, got it locking up right again now, but 8yo says he's a 20 ga man now!)
This is their first year with their own hunting licenses. I honestly didn't expect the 8yo to pass the test, but he had no problem with it. Should'a had the 10yo take it earlier!

AWESOME!! TMF (to much fun)
