Ok I'm just not willing to drop the $300-700 on carburetor work and maintenance from a dealer just to get our ATVs running. We have 2 that are basically brand new and have been sitting for close to 3-4 years with the same gas/oil fluids in them since then, neither vehicle will fire up at this point.
One is a 2005 Suzuki Eager 400 and the other is a Suzuki Ozark 250
The smaller of the 2 / the Ozark.. ran for a week and I ran it pretty hard just trying to see what it was capable of, eventually it started to backfire and bog down then just all together not start.
The Eiger will fire up for a split second if you spray started fluid into where the air filter is but just will not last.
My question to you all is first, anyone have any ideas what the main problem may be? I'm thinking bunked up crabs from years old gas...
Second, is there anyone who knows enough about these things to be willing to take on the task of helping me get them running. I'm willing to pay and work out deals. Preferably someone semi local.

try all new gas in both plus some fuel injector cleaner and new spark plugs and i bet you will be fine

Hi if I lived closer I'd do 4 free,but it's simple,just pay attention .remove carbs,take the bottom bowl off and u will c the main jet,it has a hole in it..next take out the emulsion tube.this will b clogged,take a wire and clean out the hole's,this is behind the main jet which u just took out.your idler jets or primary jets need to be taken out and cleaned,count out the turns.when you replace them count those turns,then back out one full turn,no more. if carb is very dirty,boil in water and lemon juice for couple hr's..I had to do this in camp with a buddies quad that forgot to,run carb out of gas before he stored it...pm me will b ok

i would agree that the one that ran then died might have a gunked up carb but i have never had gas last that long. try looking at some videos on youtube of cleaning small engine carb. if you have to or decide to clean the carbs get some carb cleaner from a place like napa

It was only about an hour a day for like 4 days, may not be as hard as I made it sound. Some guys do that Ina day.

not that I noticed, I was riding it full throttle quite a bit then I started to get sputtering, then a few backfires, the. It bogged down and died. No smoke (again that I noticed) no smell, no obvious reasons.

you would have noticed this amount of smoke :chuckle:
If you want to get the thing up and running now then you should just put new gas in them and make sure plugs arent fouled then(and the gas is turned on).
If you want to give them a more long term service or are getting ready to use them alot like for hunting season then i would get new spugs, new fuel filters, new gas, change oil, take carbs off and clean them really well.
off the top of my head that is what i would do once you get into it you may realize you donnt need to do some of them or that you need to do more.

Carbs aren't voodoo. I'll bet a 30 second search on Youtube will have you well on your way to fixing them yourself.

The one that starts with a shot of fluid is a piece of cake. Remove and clean carb. Put back together with new fuel.
The other, since it ran, then died could be a multi tude of things. Id start by replacing plug and cleaning carb.
How many porcinins could I get in pay to get them going?

Spark plugs and new fuel also try running some SEA FOAM additive threw it

As stated, drain the fuel and start over with new.
Also, with the new Ethanol fiel, it plays hell with the jets. If they wont idle well, most likely the pilot jet and possibly the entire pilot circuit is gunked up. Replace the pilot jet if it is corroded.

Neverrrrr. He hasn't even gotten a chance to ride 'err yet, he thinks he's having fun on my 250 but I think he's gonna love the 400.

I used Youtube and an ultrasonic cleaner I got on clearance from Midway USA along with a dose of Seafoam. I'm not a mechanic, but I can watch videos and turn a wrench. They are pretty easy to clean and rebuild and the kits are $20 or so for the two I worked on.

if no body has said this yet you have water in your fuel sounds like, i would drain the gas in the tanks and remove the carbs and take the bowl off the bottom it should only be 2 or 3 phillips screws holding the bowl on, not hard to spot the bowl its on the direct bottom of the carb really simple
