To short of arrow for the set draw length. Typically this is avoidable with a compound as you have a solid back. More of an option with a long bow or recurve if someone can draw it way back.

You think there'd be a LOT more blood then that... Ouch

There will be when the arrow comes out.

thats one way to keep the bow in your hand with out a strap!! ouch!!!

Something isn't quite right with that picture. Look at the shaft to the left of the fletching.................ie there shouldn't be shaft, it should be the nock.

It's just a Quick fletch that came undone.

Not enough kinetic energy

Looks like he drew down and the arrow went in. :dunno:

Carbon arrows that are damaged and then shot will allow these horrific injuries to happen as well. I think it happens more commonly then most of us realize. With todays fast bows and the trend for lighter faster arrows it is very important that we remember to flex test all of our carbon arrows before shooting. Also visually inspect the nocks for damage. Carbon arrows that are damaged and then shot will allow these horrific injuries to happen as well.

heres acouple more that some may have seen

I know :chuckle: I meant it would have been a clean passthrough if he had more KE
-
i think it's kinda funny his hand will be stuck to the bow until the arrow is cut. ouch! the splintered arrows look like they did more damage though. atleast he was using target tips

i dunno about it being fake.... looks pretty real, check out the finger, could have lower fletchings? maybe he tried using a bolt?

Just from him coming to full draw then watching his arrow flop out to the tight bouncing off his hand them him panicking and letting go.... I've almost done this one time picking up arrows from 3d tourneys thinking they were mine.

My dad shot a 5-10$ arrow from his Hoyt Charger 65lbs. It was a 400 gram arrow and it exploded on his wrist and luckily for him all he got was a nasty wap on the wrist from the arrow and the debris was shot down range. I was standing next to him and pieces went wizzin by my head. I told him it was time to stop buying cheap no name arrows and upgrade, for both our sakes.

Looks like the string derailed, notice how its limp not tight, that's why it looks funny.

I think this thread should have been titled Why some guys shouldn't shoot a bow period. 8)

I have to make sure my wife never sees these pictures, she will never let me go bow hunting again :chuckle:
-
I seen that 2nd pic before, and every since I seen that pic I've always flexed my arrows while listening for cracks, and run my fingers along to feel for any hitches.
Also got some other guys doing the same thing now too, so to whom ever that mangled hand belongs too my hats off to you bro :brew:

Here is an oldie but goody that fits into the bowhunting title. Though it should be "Why some guys shouldn't bowhunt...with stupid partners"

:yeah: be careful after a long day of wake boarding or dirt biking. Arm pump and archery don't play well together. Although in this video the kid got what he had coming.

:yeah: I always wait a few hours after lifting before shooting my bow. That's for practicing in a realistic environment though. Not because I'm afraid my left arm will crumple like a noodle like that idiot's :chuckle:
