I'm wondering if it will be possible to retrofit the new "ZT Turbo" cams and the new "Zero Torque Cable Guard System" onto a 2014 Carbon Spyder Turbo?
Also, they claim that the new turbo models will do 350fps ATA. What's the likelihood of the bow doing anywhere near that with say a 450 grain arrow at 29" draw length and the bow set at 80lbs? I'm thinking their test parameters were quite a bit different than that. Haha. Still some pretty cool, new technology. The Nitrum series is pretty cool for those who want an aluminum bow.

I really think the new riser design is going to be a winner. Same grip which I was hoping would change a little, but all in all some great things out of Hoyt this year! I know more than one Hoyt addict that is headed to the bank for a second mortgage this year. ;)i'm picking up 3 new bows this year so ill neef that second mortgage.
Wish they could have figured out a way to drop 8-10 ounces off the Edge Elite! Guess I need to wait at least another year.

For clarification...finally you no longer have to shoot 80# to get what you want. Our new 70# turbo has finally reached the bar set by everyone else. So no longer any need to shoot 80# to match Bear, PSE and Bowtech's 70# bows. :chuckle:

Looks like Hoyt took an Elite Energy riser and flipped it upside down with the split riser box.that riser design has been in hoyts target bows for years just moved it over into their hunting line up.
I recently picked up a Bowtech RPM 360 and get damn near the same KE at 70lbs as I do my Hoyt at 84lbs. Hmmmm.....

Their customer service was great when my 8 year old Reflex cracked 3 weeks before the opener a few years ago. Not only did Archery World get it overnighted, but Hoyt gave me a straight across warranty or upgrade trade option, which I took. I had the bow back and fully set up with a full two weeks to practice before the season. The arrows go where I aim them, so I'll stick with the company that took care of me. I know others do the same, but I'm very satisfied with both the dealer and the manufacturer.

I just stopped into the Nock Point. They got the new bows today. I shot a 70lb Carbon Spyder Turbo ZT and a 70lb Nitrum 30. I gotta say, personally I like the feel of the old Z5 cam a little better than the ZT cam. The Nitrum is HEAVY when you pick one up and then pick up a carbon but that's to be expected when comparing the two. The Nitrum is for sure a great looking bow and I like the new Zero torque cable guard they put on the 2015 bows. I did find out that they'll be able to order the new turbos in 80lbs in December probably.
All that being said the Nitrum is really a sweet machine for those looking for an aluminum bow and the new Carbon Spyder Turbo ZT is really fast at only 70lbs and super light. Stop into The Nock Point and check em out guys.

ATA is a better test standard than IBO I believe. IBO has no draw lenght standard they can shoot 32 inch draw for there testing.
Did you mean AMO? IBO is 30" 70Lbs at 5 grains per pound. AMO is 6 grains per pound.

Did AMO change something? Used to be 60#draw 540 grain arrow at 30". So it is actually 9 grains.

I like Hoyts, but won't be getting one anytime soon - just picked up a like new Bowtech RPM 360. Super fast and not at all like a typical speed bow. Am impressed with it.:yeah:

"Yes" true and "No" true! IBO among bow manufacturers started off as an unofficial standard. While the 3% variation probably held true even back then it was an apples to apples comparison just like ATA is. But bow companies realized that speed sold...In a BIG way!!! And so the "standard" word was left out and was replaced with "speed". While some companies attempted to maintain credibility and integrity, others went beyond the standard and started saying "IBO Speed" using for their own guideline IBO's tournament rule allowances. And when PSE and the original Bowtech started dominating speed bow figures many other companies started to follow suit fudging the "unofficial standards" to achieve a slight advantage over the next guy.
The ATA began to recognize that the standard needed to become an "Official Apple to Apple Standard" as the end consumer could no longer make an educated decision based on IBO. So the "unofficial" IBO standard became the "official" ATA standard. It was a very small change to most companies that held on to a mostly honest system. But a few that had seen the rocket of sales based on the misguided interpretation of IBO the official standard was, and probably is, a considerable gap in figures.
So my interpretation of ATA-vs-IBO is, "They are the same...unless they aren't. They should be...but they're not always" :chuckle:

I seriously can not tell you why . My buddies all shot Hoyts when we were growing up and I think I was shooting a Bear Recurve :chuckle:

When you are paying a grand or better for something that will be obsolete in six months why not ask for some speed to go along with the sound of flushing money down the crapper :chuckle:
But, I agree. My best year ever I was shooting maybe 235fps. 117 grain broadhead, 4.18" vanes, 2115 X7 black...A lot of flippin critters died very quickly from that setup. At least a dozen elk along with 80-100 other big game animals. I remember one large cow elk at 72 yards whose legs buckled at impact. When she went down in a hole the only thing I could see was blood dripping off the arrow stuck in a tree behind where she stood. That setup also managed to take three goat doubles on Catalina. Two of those doubles were goats in trees...talk about comedy! :chuckle:

I just got a Spyder turbo today.With a 480 grain at 70lbs it hit 312 4xs and 313 once .Very smooth great wall and surprisingly forgiving.what draw length? Speed number seems a little high to me. For a 480 grain arrow.
