No these were absolutely not coyotes, I know what a yote looks like. I was 100 yards or less from a giant wolf. Definitely not coyote size. Stood there for about 30-45 seconds tried to get the camera out but he finally took off before I could snap one of him.
He was being facetious and saying you should have "mistaken" him for a coyote and :hunter:

Later photo years I was in trying to find moose and I had a helicopter kept circling the basin. I believe they had a collared animal(s) in there. It wasn't too long before they ID'd the Diamond pack. I was tracking a whole pile of them. It was crazy the number of them. In that time I saw them several times but never got photos. There is some pretty thick country in there.

I'd think guys would be picking them up more on there trail cameras? They will definitely have to be controlled sooner than later...lots of buddies get them on a regular basis.

So we talk about seeing wolfs and the damage they are causing to the wildlife but where are all the pictures? If the wdfg wants to deny than collectivity we should be showing proof. Nothing will be done unless we as hunters pushback.Visual Proof is the best way to start. Otherwise, we are all just a bunch of cry babies. Harder to discredit visual proof than hear-say.

Me and my young boys (12 & 14) are headed over there for late Buck in a couple of weeks and I was thinking about hunting the mid to south end of 113. Are we wasting our time? :dunno: This has been planned for months and wasn't aware of all the wolf activity in that unit. I would really love for at least one of my boys to take a whitatail out of there. Its all about them this year! Any suggestions?
My family has property in that unit. Usually hear a lot of wolves. Definatly not a ton of deer IMO. But your boys can take a doe I believe? Or is that early season only? Havent been youth in a while nor modern firearm. There are bucks there just hit and miss. Archery season I saw 4 small bucks in about 9 days of hunting there. So hunting for a few days at least one of you hopefully could bag something.

The outrageous wolf plan is so far out of control it's not funny. And the anti-hunters are singing its praises. Welcome to the world of WA wolves.
The lawsuits will just start when they announce a hunt able number of wolves in this state. That will tie up the system for another several years if they ever allow it.

Yes, and the sad (read: infuriating) irony is that the people who will sue them/WA/us are the same ones the WDFW laid down with to come up with the plan in the first place. Hunters, ranchers, farmers were all completely ignored when they told the WDFW the plan was too aggressive. Only Conservation NW, Wolf Haven, the Defenders of Wildlife, and the HSUS were given consideration and a real seat at the table. If it weren't my money and wildlife that would be spent, I'd be laughing my butt off at the WDFW right now. Not laughing at all. :bash:

My boys are itchin' and can't wait to hit the woods. I'll try some door knocking and ask for permission for the boys. And if all else fails we'll hit Fourth of July creek area and give that a go. I use to hunt that ridge up high every year back in the early 90's. Tons of deer back then. I just don't want to have to have my boys by my side the entire trip because of all the wolf activity. They need to experience the hunt without dad constantly by their side. Makes me a little nervous ya know! Thanks again fella's!

Could be a good area. When we had those bad winters in mid - late 90s it killed so many deer up in that area. I believe it is getting better slowly. I think they just logged in that area in september I believe. If they did, find one of those new cuts and watch it. They will be feeding in it hopefully. Im sure your 14 year old will be fine. Set him down somewhere or both of them and do a real big circle for them try and push something. Its easier to get a buck in that area late season when they are dumb. Best of luck
