Not a monster but my tag is filled and and meat in the freezer :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL: :IBCOOL:
Small 2x3 sent down on Sunday morning about 9 am. Took three of us 2 hours to drag it a half mile up the canyon to the truck :bash: boy was I wiped out for two days
Seen this buck three times Sat, but never saw the eye guard on the left side. First sighting was at day light down a ravine, he was sparing with a spike. the wife and I watched the two spar for 10 min, it was kind cool watching them play
On sun, was sitting on the opposite ravine watching some does, waiting to see if any other bucks come and join them when this guy turned his head and I caught a glimpse of his third point :yike: I sat watching him for 20 minutes before I was 100% sure of that point and took him down. I was actually geting ready to shoot a yote that was annoying the deer. My sights were on the yote and all the deer gather together in defense mode and this guy stood with his left side facing me. I looked up and confirmed the 2x3 and it was all over..... well after missing a first shot and then dropping it with a second shot :bfg:
I had to redeem my self after missing a much bigger buck on Sat morning. I was in to much of a hurry to shoot the buck I saw (it was on the move) and did not compensate for the distance the deer was at (about 300 yards), shot twice and and after missing with the second shot, it took off like a "bat out of hell" :chuckle: :chuckle: :chuckle: and yes we did confirm a solid miss, it was down on Private Property walking around like nothing had even happen
Look at the left side and you can see a eye gaurd or brow tine at the base of the antler.
(as he lay)

:chuckle: :chuckle: :IBCOOL: At least you have meat in the freezer, I haven't got one yet but then I haven't really been trying very hard either. Rut should be coming on pretty soon and it look's like nasty weather this coming week.

the wife still has a tag t fill but she has not had the enticement to go out this weekend, so we just been lazy, watching TV and a few"Honey Do", things.

I wouldn't even think about Ft. Lewis Pete. They have only had 2 maybe 3 areas open all season. I'm thinking about going to Ashford in the morning.
Oh yeah,, good job on the buck. Good thing you waited a day for the spots to truly fade :chuckle: :chuckle:
