i know pickings are slim but opening weekend heard about a dozen shots
-
I shot a 4x4 this morning and know of two other's taken.
-
moving more than openner was there didnt see a thing buck or do ?
-
All bucks taken, to say it's slow is a huge understatement.
-
me and my father drew the late tags better chance to wait?
-
I would hunt every chance I had but if you can't then later would be better in my opinion.
-
true im coming over in the am for a quick hunt then hit it hard in nov find yours high or in bottoms
-
Yep, I got myself a grouse. Twernt a blue though, twas a ruffed. I saw several others and one snowshoe hare but didn't connect.
Does it get any better than grouse? - I don't think so.
-
I got mine lower, it's raining good and cool so they should be more active for you.
-
thats what i figured thanks
-
There are no deer there very few animals, and if there were animals there I wouldnt talk about it
-
saw 4 does but still too warm 3 of the 4 were in a alfalfa field on the river side i was on private on in wf oh well hope they show in November late tag
-
The states biggest bucks are in the Teanaway.

They were in the Teanaway now they are just Wolf food!!! :bash:
-
hope to connect with a couple in nov
-
You shouldn't have an issue in November finding a legal buck...
-
which would be any buck just hoping for 4x4 or so
-
Plenty of 3x3 that beat some 4x4.
-
that is true
-
im just hoping for weather before thanksgiving
-
Rut is going to pop earlier this year. When are your tags for?
-
Lots of these tracks, not very many critters left
-
:(
-
11-19 so far i hear the wolfs have been staying around north fork i could be wrong havent seen any sign of them on west fork hope it stays that way
-

:bdid:
Carlson canyon/camp 17 area is all wolfed up!!! Seen more tracks this year than in last 6-7 combined :(
-
We were up in the camp 17 canyon area thursday morning and had 2 groups of wolves howling back and forth before daylight. The closer groups was only a couple hundred yards from us. My son finished rest of our uphill hike in record time after hearing the wolves that close! :chuckle:
-
just hoping for good bucksbut would be happy with a couple meat bucks
-
i have access to private and so far the landowners haven't seen on there place
-

Better tag that buck on the ground before someone else does. :yike:
I tagged one similar to it last year!
-
i will
-
I have photos of wolf tracks in the west fork as well this sept . I also saw a descent 150-160 class buck in there so the wolfs didn't get all of them.
-
Is this him :)
-
Nice buck!
-
That is a great buck but not much meat on him :chuckle:.
-
I took a 4x4 outa there friday morn, packed it out sat

our whole camp hunts off the miller peak trail we took a 3x3 with eye guards and a decent 3x4 with one eye guard saw a bunch of bucks we passed on some and one true trophy nick named the pop can buck because his antlers are about heavy a a pop can was missed last year twice and once this year! they don't get that big being dumb!!!
-
that is true just hope they just get dumb enough or we have some luck
-

-

-
This years
-
Their logging right below miller ,so there will road access, our cabin is right off old blewett
-
Is this him :)
That would be a 150-160 class buck. Sweet buck Gman, any story and where is the rest of the deer? Is it already caped or did they just cut the head off? That would be a shame if they didn't at least keep the cape.
-
nice buck not trying to give where i go to much but i can glass down and see the big cabin house with big field a looks like they working around it
-
oh and i would put my late tag on buck like that easy
-
oh and i would put my late tag on buck like that easy
you can find a buck like that in general any given day. Pretty typical buck. Quality tag deserves a little better than that. :twocents:

Which one? The one on the log or on the jeep?
-
i do plan to put my time in for sure i hoping to see a buck like we got 8-10 years ago 21 wide and real heavy it was on the timberland during general trust me im not going to go shoot little guy or first unless it makes my eyes go out my head
-
either but i do like the look of the one on log
-
If you already have an idea of what you are looking for based on past experience you are way ahead of the game and definitely shoot the one that has the wow factor for you. The one on the log is not something you would see everyday during the general season, that is a good buck for sure. The one on the jeep is a good buck also and you probably wouldn't see that everyday of the season either. I would shoot either during general season. With a special permit I might hold off on the one on the jeep. Good luck.
-
that is true about it not being everyday buck but i definitely enjoy deer meat to much to eat tag so on last day or when winding down id shoot dink for sure
-

That's where I'm going now next year!
-
it was a wierd year all the deer seemed to be timbered up not sure for the reason it sucks we found the deer a day after and and animal had got to him so not a lot of good meat left trimmed off what we could but one of the nicest bucks we have took out of there
-
i blame an old magazine called hunting fishing news for turning it in to a pumpkin patch some guy got i think late tag and shot a big buck and it was in there and following year trucks along roads everwhere
-
so iyou saying recover asap

Wow, that is too bad. Beautiful buck to bad it kind of went to waste. :( I assume someone tagged it so you could still keep the antlers.
-
ya i agree was a waste we looked everywhere was in a large patch of timber there not easy to find when there layin down
-

Appears to be closer to a 170s class buck if you ask me. Sorry to head about the ending, but at least you recovered him.

Your tag a archerey hunt? Should be fun, better conditions and animal movement good luck
-
modern tag nov 11-19
-
Good timing , some of those big guys may be out and about.I had the tag in 2010, last year a guy in our camp had it and got a big 3x4 28 inch spread really high horns
-
The way general season was set up seemed that the deer still were on summer mode, I seen a really nice track opening day , 2 days later it was there again passing by my blind never saw him but thats huntin , but the 4x4 I got was fine for me
-
your buddies bucks would be a dream buck even first day first five minute he would hit the ground. yea was way out of norm usually see 6-8 does and spike dinks one doe on his place and 3 in a low field
-
One of the more common things showing up in the 'T' now is wolf doo doo with deer and elk hair in it. :bash:
And the sound of howling wolves - well - that's the sound of the anti hunter's dream come true! :bash:
And did I mention that anti-hunters (like Warren Buffet) hate humans?..... :bash:
Can you picture your future hunting seasons? :dunno:
-
i hope they pull heads out b4 then
-
im just going over there and see what i can find hoping for trophy
-
This might help a little bit.

Wheels- just came out of the teanaway after hunting elk all week. As far as the elk goes it was quite pathetic. The teanaway just isn't what it used to be. I'm a local from cle elum and have spent the last 20 years running around that area. As far as the deer go, well I saw 47 deer on public land running around the mountains, unfortunately out of all those only 3 bucks. But those numbers are much better than the 7 deer I saw up there during modern. Seems like they are starting to move around
-
oh anny of the three have size to them
-
Two of them were young bucks that were sparring around, both were small (their ears were taller) and one nice 4x4 by himself. As usual he showed up the week after deer closed :bash:
-
no chasing or rut action yet i,am hoping to be in thick of it come the 11th and most of that week
-
i blame an old magazine called hunting fishing news for turning it in to a pumpkin patch some guy got i think late tag and shot a big buck and it was in there and following year trucks along roads everwhere
Is it even in print anymore?
That rag ruined lots of good areas for people doing their home work, lazy people just read it and went.
-
no thank goodness i think its been out of print 8 or so yrs now
-
im going crazy in roughly 24hrs me and my dad will be in the woods and saw we getting snow on Wednesday. I also saw some pics on facebook from some scouting elk but saw some nice bucks
-
Good luck, hoping you can add some pictures to this tread, lots of pictures of some good deer and great memories. Have a great time with your Dad.
-
Saw a nice 26"-28" 4x5 cross 97 yesterday outta the Naneum into the teanaway . All swelled up looking for his hoes. Didn't car to much about the highway traffic. Hope he didn't get hit. Would be a great buck to hang a tag on!
-
thanks for the luck hope u he makes it to the hills west fork would be real nice hows temps and weather
-
