How did we do this year? Unlike the WDFW I don't need to know what unit you were hunting in and unlike the record books, I don't need to know what county. :)
-
Tagging this post. Fun to watch the numbers roll in! 8)
-
4 for 4 at my house
-
Muley doe for me, whitey doe for bro in law.
-
13yo son-Whitetail buck(first deer), Myself-waiting for late archery.
-
Mule deer buck.
-
I could only vote once, but my son also got a mule deer buck - so add another one to that column. :IBCOOL:
-
Mule buck
-
whitetail buck
-
I'm glad someone finally killed a whitetail :chuckle:
-
Our camp had 13 tags = 13 bucks.
-
I think you need to recruit 12 new members Hawg. Well done. That would be one heck of a meatpole
-
another year another zero
-
I harvested a Whitetail buck also.
-
3 tags all filled. One archery and two rifle.
-
Whitetail buck
-
Whitetail doe. Still got my buck to kill.
-
I think I fixed the poll so that you additional tag holders can add your additional deer.
-
Not fixed yet.
-
If you remove your vote you should be able to vote again (up to 3 choices) This was meant for individuals in Washington State, not the whole family, and also you will be limited if you got more than one doe of same species.
-
Little early for this kind of poll. Still lots of hunting to do.
-
Don't have to mark the x until you are done Sitka.
-
1st blacktail buck.
-
3x2 Whitetail
-
Nothing.
-
Blacktail Buck in my yard this morning :chuckle:
-
How about a vote for those of us that didn't hunt? Would like to see the numbers.
-
Shot a monster muley at less than 40 yds... Guessing he weighed over 300 lbs on the hoof
-
WOW! The success rate of the members here is .........just..............WOW!
Less than 10% got tag soup?
Maybe this isn't the most scientific method of figuring success rates.
-
A lot of people aren't ready to throw in the towel yet (late seasons coming up). Not trying to come up with success rates anyway.
By the way...BENCHLEGS I'll let you pick Muley or blacktail.
-
:chuckle: I would imagine that most hunters won't want to take the poll if they can't pick one of the top options anyways.
I was considering hitting some spots for quick day hunts during late season, but last night I took the rifle out to look at the scope because I have been reading up on how they work and realized that the elevation turret has broken. So, I am definitely out til next year.
I hope there are hundreds more votes on the poll. It will motivate me for next year.
-
3 out of 3 in my house - mulies
-
4x4 Muley for me.
-
Idaho muley forked horn and a WA state blacktail forked horn then I bought a second tag in Idaho and ate it so I selected all three. If I get back out there I'll revise my vote.
-
Hunting SW WA. My brother and I have both killed 2pt blacktails. Taking my grandpa out this weekend to see if I can get him on a buck.
-
I thought that there would be a lot more white tail bucks taken :dunno:
-
Give it about 2 weeks and then its their turn to hit the ground. I talked to a biologist in Western Montana/Idaho border and he had a big bruiser run by him on a doe, then mounted up in front of him. That surprised me.
-
Very surprising Bone. They are usually 3 weeks away yet.
-
We went 9 of 10 in our camp, 8 bucks, 1 doe. :chuckle:
-

I hear ya. I am surprised at how hot the muleys are at the moment. I hadn't even dreamed of whitetails yet.
-
+1. My son took a young muley buck too.
Mid season, my buck was moving through the woods with 6 doe's. Showing some early signs of anticipation.
-Steve
-

My son got a doe (archery). My daughter-in-law got a monster 2 point. My wife got a spike. I have passed on a few does so far and I am waiting on the late hunt.
-
Got my first deer ever it was 6x6 mule deer.

I would have thought the whitetail harvest would of been higher :dunno:

-
blacktail buck goofy 4x? broken rack buck
-
Not done yet, daughter is tagged out on two whitetail does, one general and one second deer.
I filled my second deer tag on a whitetail doe.
Heading out for late archery hoping to fill my general deer and the wife is hoping to fill hers also. I will vote in December.
-
Spent most of the season taking other hunters in and out and is kind of tough and unethical to shoot a deer while the clients are with you unless they have all tagged out
-
Put in one vote for myself but my wife shot a nice muley buck and her dad shot a bigger muley buck as well. As for me....nothing in early season but tagged a small whitetail buck on Veterans Day. 3 for 3 this year for my little posse.
-
I would have thought the whitetail harvest would of been higher :dunno:
Just getting into the wheelhouse of whitetail harvest
-
Whitetail Buck - Tagged out on last day of the hunt on tues, my 13yr old daughter said I couldn't come home without venision steaks :chuckle:
-
Whitetail buck
-
tagged out this afternoon. 2x2 blacktail buck. :)
-
2 bucks muley late tag
-
Should see the whitetail numbers starting to spike. They are really getting active
-
I killed a blacktail in Washington. Heading to Idaho Friday to chase whitetails.
-
6 for 7 in our group
3 spikes
2 fork horns
1 3pt
-
Added both my 2014 bucks to the poll.
-
Bagged a big black tail spike, almost a 2 point... on the 2nd day of modern, and a black tail big doe with a 2nd deer tag on Saturday of the late season. Great to share a hunt experience with my best friend's son with the spike, and initiate another buddy in to the gutting and butchering process with the doe.
-
six tags six bucks nothing under 3x3
-
I shot a blacktail spike Oct 25th
-
Another blacktail unicorn for me. Actually thought it was a doe. In an any deer area. Little spike that must have rubbed a tree a little too had and lost one of em. Eats great though!
-
Lots of votes on this poll. Keep the numbers coming.
-
5x5 Whitetail Buck. Watched him and a 5x6 on my game cam starting early Oct. Hunted those two bucks exclusively. Passed on anything else I saw. Finally shot the 4x4 on 18 Nov. He was hot in pursuit of a doe. Worked out just right as I am able to hunt every day and only had to sit out the 19th!!
-
5x6 whitetail
-
Daughter shot a whitetail doe during general rifle, we both shot whitetail does with our second deer tags and I just shot a mule deer buck during late archery. Great season for us with tons of good eating whitetail in the freezer. The mule deer is going to have to be mostly hamburger, jerky and peperoni, butchering that one tonight.
-
I shot a whitetail 13 yr old sons first deer mullie
-
Only 34 unsuccessful folks on this site. That's pretty impressive. No wonder the game department thinks everything is ok. LOL
-
I have until the 31st. Not counting myself out yet!
-
4x4 mulie plus eye gauard for me
-
5x4 late archery whitetail
-
3x3 Mulie Late archery. Slow year in my area, usually see more. Not sure if it was cause of the fires? Still a fun late season.
-
4x4 whitetail with little eyeguards.
-
I still cant believe you shot that a couple days after your heart attack
-
I still cant believe you shot that a couple days after your heart attack
I am amazed I was feeling as good as I am. Doctor put me on a 10 pound lifting limit for 5 days. My hunting partner did all the work...I just had to sit at my honey hole stand and shoot. :chuckle: Doctor cleared me to go to the cabin after the ultrasound of my heart. He said go to where you feel comfortable and can get good R&R....that's what I did. :chuckle:
-
Missed from 10 yards. Unbelievable. He was running straight away though. Must have shot over. All I could see was brown in my scope. :bash:
-
Didn't even buy a hunting license this year, so I'm either batting 1.000 or .000, depending on your perspective...
-
Killed a 4x3 with eye guards September 2. Then filled whitetail second deer tag.
-
We went 10 out of 11...... It was a good year. :chuckle:
-
Mulie buck and doe second deer tag
-
I hunted 10 days for muleys let 3 small ones go early which was a mistake one was a 4+4.came home coming up the driveway theres a nice blacktail buck standing there so I let the air out of him season over
-
3x2 whitetail for me, whitetail doe for the wifey.
-
4x4 Muley for me :)
-
Full Velvet 5x3 muley for me this year. Early archery
-
How did we do this year? Unlike the WDFW I don't need to know what unit you were hunting in and unlike the record books, I don't need to know what county. :)
Hey Bone. Can we reset this for this year?
-
3 x 4 muley, first time muzzle loading. Still have a second doe tag for modern, hoping to fill that this weekend!!!
-
I got a 4x3 Muley in the Muzzle season.
-
According to these harvest numbers whitetail bucks are the hardest to get, followed by blactail bucks, then mulie bucks. The numbers don't lie! Kind of odd to see the whitetail bucks the lowest since there is more whitetail than mule deer or blactail. :dunno:.

Or perhaps more people are focusing on Mulies since in a lot of areas it's a short season and they still have the late season to hunt whitetails.

I'd say hardest to hunt and the lowest reported current success are two different numbers. Blacktail take the hardest to hunt category by far. Strictly cause of the terrain they live in. I have yet to kill a whitetail though as I've only pursued them a few days out of my years hunting. Kinda all depends on where your hunting if it's a hard hunt or not. All these species can be found in local towns. Especially now...

I thought about that, but most of these numbers are from last season 2014. You make a valid point though about concentrating on mule deer since there is only 10 days in most areas to take one.
-
3x2 Blacktail and my 9 yr old boy got his first deer, Blacktail spike...both modern.

Good work everyone
