I would love to see the contest at some point in time change dates at least once. Really just a selfish wish as I am bowhunting November and December - Traveling for shows January and February. Puts my participation in the almost nonexistent category. Makes me feel as though I am letting a team down if I sign up.
I might just start a Working Like A Dog team for those of us who want to support the contest, but haven't a chance in heck of getting out more than once or twice :chuckle:

If the selfie part stays, could participants take like a farther away selfie with the yotes in the background then take a close up of same yotes and their monthly photo and team photo? Assuming they couldn't get all 4 elements in one photo. :dunno:

I can see the value in a monthly pic to add to your logo but I don't see the need to add a face as well. Let's just say that maybe someone is in a custody battle and not sure they courts would appreciate pics of a "child", an AR and dead coyotes for "fun".

There are free apps that have fully adjustable timers. New iPhone has one built in (probably along with everyone else that updated the OS).
I have the cheapy holder and flexi tripod and they work pretty well. My shooting sticks from Cabelas also have the "v" part that unscrews for a normal camera.

One of the reasons of me starting this contest years ago was I thought it was kind of cool to see what impact we as a group had on some of these vermin. If I kill one coyote, then I am contributing. There are some serious coyote hunters out there and this is their stage. I love to see what they bring in. I am not sure why anyone would cheat at this so part of me thinks these hoops are over the top. However for those about seriously competeing I can see their side of it I guess. I am glad Raul ran this poll.

The monthly picture is a logo that will get released the night before opening day of the contest. Everyone has to print it out and include it in their coyote kill pictures to be counted for the contest. It prevents anyone from getting a head start as everyone will get the picture at the same time.

So if rule 24 stands as is I guess any pictures I submit won't count for points if I have to be in the pictures as well.

I think it is a good rule. It will make sure all is on the up and up and I think it adds an overall legitimacy to the contest. I say if you don't like the rules don't participate.This could go both ways dont you think?If you dont like how it was before dont sign up. :dunno: this new rule will keep me from joining.People that cant win these types of contests always try to make more rules and eliminate as much competition as they can with more unneccisary BS. thanks.

Maybe most smart phones do have the ability to take pictures both ways but not everyone has or even wants a smart phone. And as far as going out and purchasing a camera for this contest or any other contest it ain't gonna happen.
If rule 24 stays as is IMO I think it is unnecessary for the shooter to be in the picture and as said before I'll submit pictures but don't expect me to be in them as I can't be in the picture and take them too

I feel that if some people don't have the technology or the money to buy the technology, that we are excluding them from the contest.
I'm not sure how I can help with this problem. Weather its with a hand held camera, or a cell phone camera. A camera is going to be needed to participate. Just posting, "I shot 3 coyotes today" might not be enough.
Trying to include as many members as possible has always been the intentions. That's why the Photo Rule was put in, for non hunters that would like to participate , with out having to shoot any critters.

We have 25 members that are willing to participate if they do not have to be in the picture. That would put us over 80 participants for the contest. With plenty of time for more to join in. More contestants = more coyotes hitting the ground = more wildlife that is saved. :tup:

We have people on here in law enforcement, foster parents, people in custody battles, with sensitive jobs, and plain ol conspiracy theorists who just dont want their pics on the net. The including your face as a requirement is sort of a bad idea. I would join but I dont get out hunting and I never kill anything and I dont take selfies so just been reading along keeping that views count up :)

I think people just wanted something to whine about! I have logos all over my pick up about killing dogs and have got a lot of thumbs up. But I have NEVER had a anti approach me! Almost all my pics with dogs have been selfies. It ain't hard people! Place your phone or camera in a bush or rock or stump or......it almost looks like you might be one of the members that thinks others are cheating.

I will say that this is the only coyote contest I've ever been a part of. I've considered doing some of the derbys but the cheating word that is thrown out there and horror stories has keep me away. What I liked best about this contest was that it was all just for fun. I realize now there are prizes but I think the sponsors should keep the prizes as optional and light.
It's not about winning (although when you are close it can motivate ya). For me, it's about enjoying the time with Lil Gringo and teaching him a thing or two about stands and stand location. Watching him grow and just spending time together. I'm just asking that folks relax and enjoy some simple competition with a group of guys who are enjoying the outdoors and keeping our predator numbers down for next years fawn and bird crop.

The selfie and monthly photo thing is no big deal to me, I've had more then a few photos of my mug with dead critters on this and other boards for years so that is of zero concern. I will still be getting out when I have time and hopefully it will be more than last winter :dunno: just don't know yet.
Hopefully, my new critter gitter will be ready to go here in about 6 weeks, it's getting machined now and cerama-coated real soon, then new glass goes on. Just waiting on the new Steiner optic to come available before I drop the bills on glass.
I wish all the players this year a GOOD LUCK and a :tup: to putting fur on the ground.
