I would try some gun smiths in the local area they might charge a small fee.

We used to keep ours in our dorm (private one though not school owned). Lots of funny looks walking to the car before a Saturday morning Badger football game. Funny thing though, our guns never hurt anyone, besides some pheasants, ducks, and rabbits. ;)

I have a son at Montana State, and the walk-in gun locker is on the 1st floor of each dorm building...... of course, that's Montana.

Weapons/Explosives in Residence Halls
Weapons or ammunition of any kind including air guns, knives, lasers, shotguns, rifles, pistols, pellet guns, stun guns, paintball guns, slingshots, crossbows, bow and arrows, or martial arts tools may not be stored or used in the residence halls. Any weapons or ammunition must be stored with the WSU Police Department.
Any explosives including primers, powder, dynamite caps, firecrackers, and pyrotechnics, as well as ammunition and dangerous chemicals, are prohibited. Toy guns and unauthorized "assassin" games, the purpose of which is to simulate killing others, are prohibited.
Weapons/Explosives in WSU-owned Apartments
For reasons of safety and noise control, no explosives including primers, powder, dynamite caps, firecrackers and pyrotechnics are allowed. The possession of small arms ammunition, when properly stored in apartments without firearms present is not considered a violation of this policy. Weapons of any kind including pistols, rifles, air guns, knives, slingshots, crossbows or martial arts tools may not be stored or used in apartments. Toy guns and activities such as “Assassin” are prohibited. Authorized storage facilities for firearms are located in the Public Safety Building.

Get a guitar case. :dunno: you're pretty well screwed with 594 passing you can't even give it to someone to safely store in a gun safe. Maybe go down to the sheriffs and ask what the h you're supposed to do.
this is a really good point. After Dec 4th, the police will be required to do a background check on you to return your gun to you, and each time thereafter. As a matter of fact, legally, you'd probably have to do one on them before you give it to them. Sorry about you trying to get an advanced education and all. Welcome to the People's Rep. of WA. :bash:

If you get into any trouble over there, they may just keep it. Maybe ask some of the guys in the Farmhouse fraternity as they all hunt where they store there weapons.

I kept mine in my room, on campus. They can piss off if they think I'm going to lock my guns with the campus police and ask for them back nicely each time I want to "bear" them.:yeah:

Are you sure WSU doesn't have a gun locker for students?campus police is where mine lived when I lived in housing here at Central a couple years ago. It was easy enough to retrieve them even at 3am to head out hunting there is always a campus cop on duty. longest it took me one times 20 minutes cuz he had to deal with a call.

Here's the info from the WSU police website on gun checks:
WSUPD offers a safe place for you to store your firearm/s while you are on campus. Whether you live on campus or are just going to class, we will store your weapons, free of charge.
The gun check window is located on the south side of the Public Safety Building and can be access 24 hours a day. There you will see a call box which connects directly to our dispatch center. When using the call box, press the button and wait for a dispatcher to answer. You will be asked a couple of questions and then an officer will be dispatched to assist you.
Rules of a Gun Check:
All weapons must be unloaded
If you have your firearm in a locked case, make sure and bring the key with you so the officer can verify the serial number
Your firearm does not need to be in a case to be left at WSUPD
You may store as many firearms as you would like
We DO NOT store ammunition
You may check your firearm in and out as many times as you would like
If you have any questions regarding the gun check procedure feel free to call WSUPD at 509-335-8548 before bringing your firearm on campus.
