So, I am in the market for a .22LR pistol. What you recommend? Thanks
-
Plinking, hunting what do you want to do with it?
-
Depending on what you want I'd go with a...
Ruger SP-101 .22
Ruger SR 22
Ruger Single Six
or
Ruger MKII or MK III

All the above :) and I'm looking for a auto, already have several revolvers
-
The ruger single six and Mk II are good. With the revolver you can even get a spare cylinder for .22 mag.

Can't beat the Ruger MK series and the Browning Buck Mark's. When I sold guns, a life time ago it seems, that is what I sold the most off. They are solid and reliable.

Ask Carp. He probably has something on sale. Carpsniper2.
-
I prefer the Buckmark over the Ruger. Both have their loyal fans and the opinion on both sides sways towards one but we usually also concede that you can't go wrong with either.

sig mosquito

You can't really ever go wrong with a Ruger Mk 22
Never owned one, yet ;), but I've been told the Ruger SR22 is a good little piece too.

sig mosquito
I looked at getting one of these a couple months ago but the sales guy told me they've had their issues. Mostly with regard to cycling ammo that wasn't high velocity. He told me if they only feed their Sig mosquito range gun high velocity 22's nobody ever really has much trouble with it but when they don't the results were less than stellar. He suggested the Ruger SR22 over any of the others that were in its class, like the Sig or Walther, because they seem to reliably eat anything they feed it. I ended up buying neither.
If you have a Mosquito I'd like to hear what you think of it.

I have both the Ruger Mk.III Hunter and a Ruger 22/45 Lite. They each have their place. Years ago, my favorite (and only) .22 pistol was a Belgian Browning Challenger. I loved that gun! Somebody else needed it more than me, I guess, as I came home to find it not. My son found the son of a Rosie O'Donnell, but it was too late, he had already traded it for drugs. Too bad, he could have used the money for the medical care he soon needed.
If all three of them were lying in front of me and I had to choose one, I couldn't. :twocents:
BTW, I will never disassemble a Ruger again! I'll just spray it clean. :bash:

Yeah I've used a couple different SR 22's and they feed everything just fine. The mosquito I shot had a lot of FTF's.

Get a Buckmark or Ruger MK and hotrod it up a little with stuff from Tactical Solutions out of Boise...

GSG 1911-22. Full size 1911, with 22lr upper on it. the only difference in the frame is that it has a narrow magwell internally for 22lr only. Other than that is is 100% 1911. Simply fantastic little shooters, very affordable. Upgradable too, almost all 1911 trigger and grip upgrades will work on it. Alloy frame and slide so light weight.
This is the same exact gun as the Sig 1911-22, GSG is the actual Mfg for Sig. They even make upgrade bushing kits to tighten up the slide/barrel and other hop-ups.
Super affordable too, I see them go on sale from Buds/cdnn in the $250-270 range with free shipping. $25ffl+tax and you are out the door right @ $300.

I own an SR22. Love that gun but hate the trigger because it has an unacceptably long travel and a heavy pull. One of these days I'm going to ask for advice on how to fix/replace that trigger for something light and crisp.

That's a great looking pistol  Lots of fun if you can find ammo :chuckle:

That's exactly why I wanted one, lots of ammo to shoot up :chuckle: about 5k rounds that is getting old.
-
Dang too late. But I want real bad a Volquartsen Scorpion. Test are showing it is as accurate as very good 22 rifles. But it is pricy. And that's at 100 yards.

Ya, probably way above this poor missionaries salary :chuckle: Nice gun though

I used to be of the same opinion, but recently got on YouTube and found a video showing the disassembly AND reassembly of the Ruger. It's a piece of cake! I took mine apart and cleaned it for the first time in 18 years. Sure would've been nice if Ruger had included that one critical bit of information on how to get the gun back together after taking it apart! :bash:

If you want to trade 1K for those arrows, I'd take it. :)

Ohhh, I'm sure there's been many of these :yike: moments and I know I lost a few years off my life the first time I took mine apart and tried to put them back together. The hell of it, is the little manual that comes with those dang things doesn't tell you ya damn near need to stand on your head and reassemble the thing upside down. :o
But, bobcat is right, after you learn the little tricks on how to catch that little hook for the mainspring to have tension and work properly, it makes life soooooooooo much easier and I no longer wake up in cold sweats caused from nightmares of assembling a Ruger Mk 22... :chuckle:

You'll love the buckmark. I have an older one that I bought on a whim......I sold off my ruger target because the buckmark and I get along so well.
