I'm looking for a Bison Meat hunt (shoot) what ever you want to call it. Just looking for meat 2-4 y/o bull or cow. I know some of you have been so I'm looking for recomendations and Contact Info. Looking in Montana but open to Idaho and Oregon. Thanks.

You can check with the Sho-Ban Tribe in Fort Hall Idaho. I think they do or they used to sell a hunt.
-
Dale does them.
:dunno:
-
ask MLBowhunting he has done at least a couple that i know of in Oregon
-
My family loves bison and I too would be interested in this information!
-
My wife says maybe next year. I showed her a link to BearPaw and she seemed kinda interested.
Tag for other ideas. I would do it strictly for the meat so a cow would be fine for me
-
Anyone?

I'd check with Dale the BEARPAW outfitter !!! He's a moderator or something like that of this site... :chuckle:
-
Yeah Bearpaw outfitters....the guy you hunted a spring bear with a few years ago.. :chuckle:
Hey mods shouldn't this be in "Other big game"

I don't know. Are bison big game, or livestock?

Neither if we're talking about tanning the hide. That'd go in the taxi section :chuckle:

Man i am really confused now, it could also go in the "Out of state hunting" or Butchering..... :dunno:
Humm, live stock, good question, farm raised i guess, so if you go on a High fence elk hunt is that then livestock... :dunno:
-
Yes, high fence elk usually are regulated by the department of agriculture in states that allow game farms, I believe. So they are considered to be livestock, just as bison are.
-
Isn't there a ranch in or around Bend, OR?
-
I already know Dale does them.
So do many other places. I'm looking for other places to check out too.
-
I've offered it before, but I have a nice bull Hereford you could shoot. He's around 1,000 lbs. Better speak up quick though. He's got one barrel of grain left then he's history.
-
Get on Google and type in bison meat hunts, there are literally tons of them.
-
Here you go, hunt right in Colville Washington. The wife and I went there this sept for her to get a Fallow deer. David Schuerman was a great guy, and we had a LOT of fun! At the time we were there he was charging $2200.00 for a Buffalo. You keep hide, head and ALL meat. Best deal I have EVER heard of as that equates to about $4.25 a pound for Buffalo since he says he gets about 500lbs off of one. This old online pamphlet shows a out of date price I think, but drop him a email or a call and check it out.
If you have any questions I might be able to answer PM me.

Wow, I can remember friends going to Montana and shooting them for $1000 for a 2 year old. Been 10 years ago since the last guys I knew went. They kept everything as well. I guess like anything else, prices just keep going up.
-
Thank You Toptwo,
I didn't realize there were still game farms here in WA. That they had all be shut down.
-
That Schuerman Ranch site hasn't been updated in 3 or 4 years.

Here's one just north of Spokane. Haven't heard anything about it, but found it on an net search.

True PolarBear, but they are up and running and are good people. Like I said, I was there with the wife hunting Fallow deer the first week of Sept :)

With the cost of buying feeders now and raising to weight this would actually be cheaper than raising your own beef if you don't have a hay operation. :twocents:
We may do this next year.

Crazy Woman Bison in Montana is )1,500 for a yearling bull around 750 pounds. Hell, I just sold a 600 pound Hereford steer for $1,400!

That's the gal I'm talking about over there. I guess she is as tough as any and does all the work post kill.

I few years ago a co-worked went to Canada for a meat hunt. It was something in the 600 to 800 range. The Bison was in a pen the rancher asked him if he wanted to shoot it from his tractor bucket so he felt like he was in a tree stand. :chuckle:

Try Clover Creek Ranch in Ashwood, Ore. Clark sold the place and I have heard some negative comments. I have shot several there while Clark had it.

Montana hunting company out of Bozeman MT

My brother and a buddy just shot two 2 yr old cows on the Fort Peck Indian reservation out of Popular Mt.
I think it was 900.00 for the hunt , they were real happy with the whole experience, these Buffalo are out on the prairie, not in a small pasture.
The Ft Peck tribes has a good website with the hunting info
