Post by: JackOfAllTrades on October 31, 2014, 12:45:47 PM: So many people get fixated on antler size/height/width/mass and as they see a buck like this in the bino's, say to their buddy, 'its just a two point', and move on. When I see 'any deer', buck, doe... Doesn't matter, I watch their mannerisms.. I try to gage their health and age, alertness... What they're browsing. I've been fortunate to have harvested a few older bucks that were likely well beyond their prime for antler growth but were heavy on the hoof. People should appreciate older bucks more even if they don't carry the big rack they once did. They got old by being smart.
