I came across this big pile of scat while elk hunting in the Blues last week. Its definitely too big to be coyote, but I'm not sure if it could be from a bear or cat or wolf. Opinions?
The first pic is with a .300 Win Mag cartridge. The second is with the cartridge and my gloved hand (medium size glove). And the last is with a pile of coyote poop I found about 10 yards away and moved next to the large pile to show the size difference.

Large canine IMO

Bear

:dunno: Did you get a sample that could be sent to the BF research center?

Looks like bear to me...
-
Highly segmented and mostly hair = cougar in my book
-
It does look cougar to me. Hair is cris crossed and not spiraled, also ends are rounded except the last pinch. They normally bury it unless its territorial marker or it was interrupted or just lazy. I've found lots of it that way. Normally its at least partially buried, but not always.

Contact the group from BFRO. Sure looks squatchy to me. :chuckle:

Looks like cat doo to me.

Whatever it is it is not eating veggies. That means either a cougar or a bear you don't want to encounter imo.

Cougar

That's actually a python.

Your now educated at what wolf scat looks like! That is wolf without a doubt! Seen a lot of it and all looks just like that!
-
Looks like you found where I just couldn't hold it any longer.... :sry:

This is not a bear, The scat shows that this animal is a purely carnivorous animal "Meat Only" Wolfs will only eat plants if they are starving or have an upset stomach. Bear scat is rarely purely meat, a lot of times bears eat high fiber foods after a meal of meat to help with digestion, normally the berries/grass/plants will show in the scat. It could be cougar or wolf

Wolf scat. I've seen lots of times where a wolf will scratch/mark and poop right next to coyote scat. Territorial thing.
-
Wolf or a coyote that has one loose but hole. Haha lol :chuckle:
-
Definetly canine!!

Coyote with a big azz :chuckle:
