Puts the wolves in a different light than the wolf lovers paint them.

they need them in Seattle more then Spokane
-
According to how Spokane voted in this last election, I'd say they need them there, too.
-
It's funny that here in king county, people hate pit bulls, but love wolves :dunno:

Thanks for posting! This is already making the pro-wolf crowd screech
The pro-wolf crowd has worked hard at keeping the truth away from mainstream. Great Idea.
-
It's already more effort than was placed into fighting our recent gun law BS.
-
they need them in Seattle more then Spokane
I will donate money to have one put up in seattle, does any know what it cost? I think this is a great idea, it won't change there attitudes but it sure might get under their skin!!

Being "pro-management" would seem to be a better message than simply being "against wolves". I think the general public would support a message of wanting responsible management more than a message of being against a species existence. Lay out the very valid reasons why most reasonable people should support more active management...several key talking points: Wolves are not endangered...populations are strong; wolves need managed like other wildlife; unnecessary protection of wolves puts unnecessary burden on hard working ranchers, rural residents. All of these messages could be accompanied by equally appealing photos.
If these billboards are just intended to incite anger/emotion out of the pro-wolf crowd...this should work. I imagine the next wolf poaching reward will top $50k...
-
First, the billboard does not promote the species existence, just that they should not be in Washington..second, a reasonable person would understand WHY they are not wanted..

I am 100% against management, when it gets to that point we will be done hunting over the counter in Wa, it will be permit only. I won't donate to any ad that promotes or insinuates that wolves are good for this state for any reason. Wa is not Idaho, Montana, Wyoming or Canada, we cannot support packs in our wilderness or state, private, lands and still have the amount of game it takes to keep hunters hunting with otc opportunities. That is just my opinion, they have been here for years but they will grow exponentially I believe with the support they (wolves) get from the pro wolfers and the wdfw. Damn sad!

That's because of their "NIMBY" mentality = Not In My Backyard!
-
Unfortunately "management" is code for so much bureaucratic over-site that nothing gets done. If you turned citizens loose to "manage" wolves and the problems they create then the powers that be would not have justification for their control or padded programs.
Supposedly Wolves are being "Managed" right now... and in the best interest of all. I think most of us would argue that "Management" is severely lacking.
My version of Management is the trapping, collaring and documenting of wolves and Killing of those that cannot stay away from people.
We could have had an Experienced trapper paid for with private funds but it was deemed inappropriate for the Cattlemen association to hire and pay for an experienced trapper instead of one blessed by the WDFW. I think experiences is more important that a degree, especially when a "degree" could have ridden in a truck and learned something from experience.

I just donated $50 to help keep these billboards up in Spokane, hoping more can go up around the state. :IBCOOL:

I understand the anger and desire to hit back at the enviros...just don't be surprised when the next wolf reward amount exceeds your annual salary :chuckle:
I really believe the most important message to be conveyed to the non-hunting voters in this state is that wolves are most certainly not endangered. They are abundant and have sustainable populations throughout the west...if that message sinks in, I think a lot of the legal hunting/harvest/lethal control options stand a fighting chance in Wa. :twocents:

I think a pic of a wolf disemboweling a living deer or elk would be better than just a snarling wolf, but its a start.

I agree. I like that there is some message being delivered, but I think it could have been a bit more subtle... sometimes less is more. Remember, MOST people are on the fence and can easily be pushed away by alarmists.

I don't think there are that many people "on the fence" anymore. Probably more people who have been ill-informed by environmentalists, biologist, the USFWS and fraudulent state game agencies, and since mainstream media won't tell the truth, this is the next best thing.
Them danged alarmists

I think most aren't on the fence. I think the issue isn't even on their radar, and won't be until some initiative comes along.
Most have bigger problems in their lives to worry about.
-
Many people dont think about owning a gun or getting training until they are robbed, assaulted, raped, or shot at. IMO the key is making people FEEL the effects of the problems. Some people have to be hit in the head with a problem before they realize one is there!

People in Seattle, Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver, and Spokane are more likely to be robbed, assaulted, or shot at than ever be adversely affected by wolves. They worry more about pit bulls and child molesters.
It's sort of like bringing up Hunt-WA to them. The reply you'll get is "hunt what?"
The issue is far from being a priority or a worry for most people. They'll vote on an initiative based on emotion, not facts or practicality, and if anyone thinks that isn't coming think again. Michigan's anti-wolf hunt initiatives passed this month, the only reason it's not a catastrophe is because of legislative action that took wildlife management out of the hands of voters. It was a symbolic win for HSUS at best. It wouldn't be if it came to a vote here today.
