Sad to see them go. I know their products are regularly used by some members here. I can't find the tents on the website anymore. Might still find some on the secondary market. Timberland didn't renew the license to the "GoLite" brand and the company had too much debt and some lawsuits, mostly landlords of stores. I know the margins are tight in that industry and its very competitive.

Survival of the fittest.
Seek Outside Looks like a good option.... There 4 lb - 6 person tipi with a 5 lb stove would be a solid setup. Heard you can pull the bottom and legs off and set stove over a dug out hole and load it up with firewood to burn all night almost.

Ya, I'm a big GoLite fan. My go to hiking pack is a GoLite Pinnacle. I also use a GoLite sleeping bag. I was hopping to pick up a shelter but everything good is already gone.

I have a one-man tent and it is fantastic. They had good products and if you got them on sale excellent prices.

Like magnum said there are better companies now.
From what I heard about golite their service was tanking for awhile before this happened.
-
better companies, probably?
But golite served a really good purpose at the Shangri La 5 price point of $325 vs the Seek outside at almost 3 times that.

Agreed...great product at a great price. I think the biggest problem they had was nothing was ever in stock.

and the $4 million that they owed to suppliers overseas.
I think the expansion into retail stores leading up to and during the recession was the nail in the coffin. I think they thought they were going to be North Face, and they didn't have that sort of market share or demand yet.

Word in the street is that they are out of bankruptcy and ready to mAke another run at it.

Hopefully they can get the business end of it figured out, I like their gear.

I'm assuming by reading that, the company won't be called "Golite". Maybe. Who knows.

They might do better with gun owners if they left CO. :dunno:
