I got on to submit my wifes hunter reports today and noticed a second deer option. She was not drawn for this tag originally. I got on and checked her special permits and sure enough she was given a alta whitetail doe tag. I am assuning this was to do with the methow fires? Thing is we were not emailed or sent a permit card in the mail at all and the season for that tag is over from what i see in the regs. So if this is correct she is going to lose 4 years worth of points and was not even given a chance to hunt >:( kinda pisses me off! What do you guys suggest I do to retain her points?
-
Not sure any of the damage permit hunts had anything to do with points. Everyone that put in for a tag got one. :dunno:
-
I hope so. It would suck to loose her points and have her not get a chance at using the tag. I thought they were notifying people on those hunts?
-
Look where it says points used. From what I heard those tags were given out and zero points were used. :dunno:
-
The only notification was thru email. Did your wife have an email account linked to her Wild ID #?
Plus the season is open till 31 DEC 2014 for that tag!
She will need to go by a special permit application, and get a copy of the email to have on her person, I will find the post for you.

Right on thanks!
-
Plus she will have to buy second deer tag!
here it is the email is the first post.

ooppsss only open till 30 NOV 2014, sorry about miss information.
Thanksgiving in Pateros. :chuckle:

If you don't buy a second tag your points will be reinstated.
-
Thanks for the info. I was really just worried about her possibly loosing her points. We will probably not go over and shoot a doe as she shot a buck this year already. I believe the deer will be pressured enough by all the other tag holders anyhow.
-
When I took my daughter for her hunt we went to the far north east portion of Perryagin unit just south of Conconully and only saw one other girl with her grandpa back in Oct.
Very little pressure, there plus those deer were local deer not Methow deer.
-
My son also got drawn and the letter they sent said if you choose to not buy a tag then you will not lose your points, but since she had applied for that doe tag and originally didn't get drawn they where given the tags after the fires. As long as she didn't purchase a tag then she won't lose her points.

Oh and we went over there this weekend and saw a lot of deer. In the end my 11 year old son told me he couldn't shot a doe. The last thing I wanted to do is make him shot a deer and ruin him forever on hunting. I told him he will know when he is ready .

Points don't get used unless you buy the tag!

You're not alone, my 11 year old could not pull the trigger on a doe that we saw under an apple tree either. He had too much time to think about it. Like you said, there's always next year.
