Title: Lacey backyard blacktail
Post by: actionshooter on November 30, 2014, 11:52:23 AM: A couple of weeks ago my dad calls and tells me that he has had a "pretty good" buck that was chasing does in their backyard. So on thanksgiving he shows me a picture. I guess when he says they have a pretty good buck in the back I should pay more attention. :chuckle:

I'm sure this i nowhere near where that buck is but this summer while I was hauling cows home from the Thurston County Fair I saw a very similar buck in velvet on Mullen Road near Pattison Lake. I almost had to dynamite my brakes (with 5 cows in the back) to avoid hitting him. There are quite a few really nice bucks in Lacey, Hawk's Prairie and especially out on Cooper Point!

Post by: Soady on November 30, 2014, 09:18:31 PM: This guy is an educated St. Martins University buck taken in July of this year. I see him cross the street but no camera around when he does. Notice the fence which is there to keep him in on the campus though he is cutting through and chasing the neighborhood does around.

there was once a big guy that lived in the woods along lois lake, i'd see him down there a lot when i went fishing there as a kid.

Post by: steelhead59 on December 01, 2014, 11:43:44 AM: There are many monster Black Tail bucks living within the Thurston county area, most live within the no shooting zones. I have seen them several times, they rub on fir trees the size (8 to 10 inch) of the ones elk rub on, unbelievable when you see them. Drive around during the rut from 8:00 to 10:00 PM and they come out of their hiding hole.

Sharp eye there BGT. Plenty of big bucks in that area.

I saw a toad near the brewery in late August. Some big bucks hang near the WDFW shop alongside the brewery property.

They would love to eat the blackberries next to where we parked our rigs. There was a rumor (it turned out to be true) that one of the employees shot a big 5x5 during archery season right behind the can storage building. (The tall building that is the farthest to the South. On several occasions we also had elk on the brewery property that came in from the golf course.
