WTF!!!
Why in the hell would anybody post that BS?
-
WTF!!!
Why in the hell would anybody post that BS?
:yeah:
"here, put this on. Make it legal." :dunno:
-
way to settle in after your 8th shot I couldn't help but chuckle a little.expected him to be shooting way farther than 400 when I saw it. these people really think they are hunters, getting tired of seeing this crap
-
:yike:
-
Amazing. He was so proud of himself. And I assume that was a guided hunt as he, the "hunter" had to wear orange.
-
Perfect example of why I say, I love hunting far too much to like hunters.
-
What do you want to bet that the rifle was bore sighted for this hunt and never fired at a target. Sad to consider these guys as hunters or sportsmen.
-
Mmmm, instaburger.
I fire less shots sighting in my rifle.
-

if only they would have bore sighted in that rifle for long range shooting
-
Wow. Pathetic display.
-
and we wonder about being judged by non hunters. Yowzhers.
-
I just don't know what to say....... you hit the nail on the head with your comment bone.
-
Sick. He don't deserve that one.
That "guide" sure has a fancy cell phone.. :chuckle:
Barney Mule Deer Hunt 2nd video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCHoak3IlwE#)
-
Good shooting :o
Like the clown I saw launch an arrow at a buck that was over 100 yards away and walking :bdid: for the record I don't consider shooting 400 yards unethical but obviously this guy shouldn't have been shooting that far.
-
he may want to spend a little time at the range! i couldnt believe it when he said 400 yards, i was thinking a lot more!
-
The fact that he laid out another pile of shells on the hay bale before he started shooting! :yike:
A quick search of that user name on facebook makes me wonder if its any relation to a paid sponsor on this site... :dunno:
-
A little internet investigation has turned up a few clues about this hunt. The YouTube account is of Stacie Barnum. A quick Facebook search turns up a Stacie Barnum from Aberdeen. And a quick search through the photos on her page turns up this photo.
-
Disgusting.
Sometimes things happen while hunting, but they shouldn't be put on the internet.
-
If it takes you a whole box of shells to kill something ...STAY THE HELL HOME  :dunno: :chuckle:
-
Suprized to see this from 2012 just now piping up on here? Definently a video which should never been put on you tube. Maybe somebody got ahold of it and posted it out of spite? :dunno:
-
:puke: :puke: :puke: :mor:
-
Buck run huh
-
That was pretty bad....
-
Wow is all I can say
-
idiots :bash:
-
Not many words can really describe these clowns!
-
About the most pathetic and disgusting display I have seen in a long time. Most of my disdain, disgust, opinions, and comments have already been made by others. What a joke. I feel sorry for the deer, it is much nicer than any I have killed and deserved better than being shot to rag dolls by some chump.
-
Buck run huh
Bigger WOW. Pretty surprised to hear that. They sure don't let the "free permit" hunters get away with anything like that. Guess if you pay $5 grand you can do whatever :dunno: Poor reflection on the whole operation.
So is the "guide" one of the Stevens'?
-
Very sad, you can't teach ethics, or make people care, disappointing
-
What a pathetic " hunter " .
-

What this was guided?
Expose these idiots for what they are! :bash:
Idiots are smarter than these class act AC's (Alpha Charlie's). :chuckle:
-
Buck run fer sure!!! (http://)
-
Don't know the guy. But I know it's buck run When I saw that first picture I was thinkin I've seen that deer before!!!! Finally found the pic in my phone
-
It was not guided by Stevens, it was a raffle hunt. Pretty pathetic shooting
-
Buck run huh
-
The guy doesnt even have the skill to cycle his bolt without picking his gun up and moving it 3 feet and holding it vertical, how does he think hes going to make a 400 yard shot?
-
Disgusting.......
-
It was not guided by Stevens, it was a raffle hunt. Pretty pathetic shooting
Thought they would guide the raffle winners, or at least keep an eye on them better than that :dunno:
Hope they at least gave him a serious a** chewing and invited him to never come back.
-
It was not guided by Stevens, it was a raffle hunt. Pretty pathetic shooting
Are you talking about the buck run raffle, or the east side deer raffle?
Either way it's certainly nothing to be proud of. Seriously, when you have a guy spotting for you saying; "that one hit him high in the spine, that one hit him in the neck, that one hit him in the rear end".....ridiculous!
-
If it takes you a whole box of shells to kill something ...STAY THE HELL HOME  :dunno: :chuckle:
:yeah:
-
Those guys need a lesson on ethics. Stuff can go wrong while hunting. Anyone who has hunted long enough is going to have something happen. A animal take more then one shot and etc. There is no need to share a video like that. Also love at the end he says put on this orange so you are legal. Maybe you should have done that when you left the truck :bash:
-
Pathetic, just pathetic.
-
Must have been an ex girlfriend or wife who posted that on YouTube! Certainly the hunter wouldn't want that on the Internet for everyone to see. I noticed he wasn't very experienced shooting that rifle, every time he chambered another round he had to take it down off the hay bale it was rested on, to work the bolt. Why not just leave the rifle where it was and continue looking through the scope until you're done shooting?

If you click on the first picture the whole thing comes up, it's pulled from FB and the gal say on the title of the pic it's so and sos buck run lotto buck
-
 This is exactly the kind of thing the antis grab a hold of and use to their advantage. The nonchalant discussion about it just adds icing to the cake.
-
The guy doesnt even have the skill to cycle his bolt without picking his gun up and moving it 3 feet and holding it vertical, how does he think hes going to make a 400 yard shot?
I was thinking the same thing. I'm not an expert at rifle shooting techniques, but unless you have just a single shot, I know enough to know you should try not to remove the rifle out of position each time you want to cycle a round for launching, oops I meant shooting. I wonder where the rest of the lead ended up that didn't hit the target?
-
Wow!!!! A little out of his range.... Pathetic! :yike:
-
Here is a pic of the deer mounted and proudly put on display in his house:

*censored* bags all the way around on this one!
-
I am much more critical of the no orange and the camera guy than I am of the shooter and how the "hunt" played out. Sometimes things don't go as planned...its great when they drop on the 1st shot...I would be a hypocrite if I were to chastise this guy for shooting multiple times at an animal and missing many of his shots. Looks like he had a solid rest and was well within range of the gun and conditions were good for the shot...I have no clue on how much he shot that rifle at longer ranges and I doubt anyone else on here does either. :dunno:
-
A week of prairie dog shooting in Montana would help this guy out.
-
IMO rifle hunting has one similarity to bow hunting. If your going to shoot out to a certain distance you practice out to that distance and dont shoot past it. That was the worst rifle shooting I have ever seen. The bolt cycling made me laugh. I dont know if that guy has ever shot a rifle. One of the worst hunters ever.....
-
That is pathetic! No respect for the amazing animals they are hunting. It's stuff like this that gives hunters a bad name. Of course they don't realize this and post it on the web.
-
In the end....... Dead is dead.
-
I really don't know what the problem is! :dunno:
The guy bought a tag went hunting, hunted hard! and shot a well deserved trophy mule deer!! :dunno:
:peep: :peep: :peep: :peep: :peep: :peep: :peep: :peep: :peep: :peep: :peep:
I hope he got a copy of that awesome hunt! All caught on video for all to see!
-
I wonder how many of us shot at our first deer with the same amount of skill level :dunno:
:stirthepot:
-
Not I! nor my partners!
-
He was shooting over 400 yards. I doubt many people shoot their first deer at that distance. I've been hunting for 35 years and have yet to try a shot that far. For someone to attempt shots at nearly a quarter mile, they should be competent at that distance, and that takes a lot of practice, which that guy obviously did not have.
-
Wow. Pathetic display.
:yeah: Very pathetic.
-
I'm sure the guides on here could let us know how many first timers either...jerk the trigger..rushe a shot...or pull their head before the shot...I know I've made those mistakes before when I was pretty green
Realistically the only distance this guy could have had a sure thing on is bow range (along with many first timers)
Okay resume the bashing :chuckle:
-
What a joke..Hunter and guide both! Shooting way beyond ability...and putting his orange on after the fact? What a couple of morons!!!
-
Anyone on here ever hunt Buck Run? I was under the impression that you show up and are assigned a section of the property to hunt, each person getting a different section. Wondering if this is true, and if so, why someone being told what section to hunt would also need a "guide". :dunno:
-
That was just a pathetic display of shooting, start to finish. It looked like a .300 WM or a 7mm Rem to me. At 400, even with nominal skills it should have been a reasonable shot. I bet he was sighted dead on at 100 yds so he dropped about 2' at 400. Can't figure why he was off ~3' in windage though, wind looked calm as you could get out there.
Can't wear that blaze orange while you are hunting the hay bales, camo pattern does not match!
-

:chuckle:
-
Maybe he is better with a bow :chuckle: Seriously what apiece of s***. I'm not sure who is worse the shooter or the other idiot.
-
It was a pretty nice buck. :twocents:
-
I'm trying .. Oh trying to see both sides of this.. If you hit him at any distance in the first shot or two, but he doesn't go down, Yes, make sure he does go down. But it shouldn't take +7 shots to do it! If you're not consistently capable out to that range, DON'T go there! We weren't there, Maybe the buck was on a trot. Well, don't go there... Know when you've been made. He hit him in the spine, the hind leg and the neck. Man I really hope that gun is more accurate than that. 400yds for say, a 30-06, or even a 300mag there's poi to calculate. But left to right with no noticeable wind? If that buck wasn't on the move, the shooter needs some serious practice. As it was, he was shooting from a solid bench rest already! Why in the hell would you remove the rifle from the rest to cycle the bolt? All that movin around was just plain stupid.

-
Of all the things, the commentary is what ruined it for me. I can almost forgive him for the poor shooting, well...until he started talking about compensating three feet in the opposite direction after shooting him in the a$$.
I agree with others. not every hunt plays out like a magazine article. Don't put stuff like that on the internet. Take good pictures and make up a good story. :chuckle:
-
I wonder how many of us shot at our first deer with the same amount of skill level :dunno:
:stirthepot:
This was that guy's first deer?
Shot my first deer at 40' with a 30-30. While I was learning to hunt, I learned to shoot. Pop cans with iron sights off hand at 100yds. I hope everyone learns that way. While I've been successful many times, I'm still learning to hunt! And I still practice my shooting. Hope everyone practices. I hope everyone knows their limits. Obviously some don't. But yes, as one other post said... Dead is dead.
-Steve
-
Oooooh! The drama!
-
A friend and I did the same thing in the mountains in the Manson unit when we were about 13. We ran out of ammo :bdid: Sounded like a warzone. Which I Hear every year since. The bucks still got away and the dads still laugh about that day. We were running and shooting offhand not like this guy with a rest.
-
While the accuracy sucked some people faulter under pressure. Buck fever anybody?..I would wonder where the other 5-6 rounds went that missed the deer.Whats the back drop, that country is pretty flat. I make it my goal for one shot kills, out of respect for the animal. Apparently he's not of the same mindset...But my biggest grip is the dude with him..here's your orange now your legal???Really. These guys are candiidates for a "Hellow sir Im with the WDFW" knock at the door.

Phool,
I hunted Buckrun with my nephew who is in a wheel chair. Our family all chipped in and bought raffle tickets and he was lucky enough to draw a tag. Here is how it works. Raffle winners get ONE day to hunt. If you don't shoot a buck you are done. Landowner/Manager Derek Stevens assigns you to an area to hunt. He is NOT with you during your hunt. During our hunt the area we were assigned did not have many deer, we spotted a big buck on Dereks land but not in our designated area. I called Derek and he eventually allowed us to move to the area with the big buck. At the time I got the feeling that the only reason we were allowed to move was that we had a kid in a chair.
Derek is not in this video. Derek also gets a few landowner tags that he sells for around $6,000 each. He guides these hunters and they get to hunt until they fill their tag which usually only takes a day or two. He also sells some management hunts for around $ 1,500. These hunts are for old bucks with bad genetics, big two and three points. He also guides these hunters and they are one day hunts.
In my opinion this video should have no connection or reflection on the Stevens Family and Buckrun. Just hunters that made some bad choices, shooting outside their effective range, no orange, videoing and posting on Utube etc

My son had the tag twice when he was younger; they had some pretty good draw tags in there for a couple years. Killed a management buck and a doe (first two deer, one shot each by the way). They took us to an area and left us to hunt. I was under the impression that some of their trophy hunts were guided. Sounds like Groundhog knows the score.

I wonder how many of us shot at our first deer with the same amount of skill level :dunno:
:stirthepot:
If I had displayed that level of skill on my first deer my Dad would have slapped the **** out me and I wouldn’t have been allowed to hunt again until I had re-proved my competence with my weapon and my judgment.

GH, I was not suggesting Buck Run or Mr Stevens were involved/to blame, only wondering why someone would even require a "guide" if assigned one small section to stay in? Did this guy really need a "guide" to point out which stack of hay to sit in?
-
Unethical, bad shooting. The whole spray and pray until you hit it is one of the worst examples of "hunting." Also not wearing orange as required only after the fact and then to have the audacity to post the video? These guys are not hunters they are *censored*es.
-
HuntnPhool,
Most hunters would not need a guide, this guy on the other hand.... :dunno:
-
I've been watching, following, and trying to figure out a way to get my point accross about these "hunters".
To me, they really show a blanket disregard for the ethics and laws that pertain to hunting. The amount of rounds fired and apparent lack of concern, the attempt to put the orange on after the fact to "make it legal", and overall attitude make me wonder hmmm....what other laws do they break?
Clearly I wasn't there and can only assume but these guys really sum up ( to me ) those that glorify the killing, probably don't eat the meat, and put most hunters in a bad light.

Was it a guide or just a buddy of the guy?
Maybe I missed that part.
-
Did I hear the "guide" right when he said "I think u just hit him in the pecker"? Any which ways what a disgraceful act of hunting and those d-bags should be held accountable. To Jackofalltrades, I also shot my first mule deer
at 40ft with my 30-30 at the age of 12. My dad would make me target practice with the 30-30 open sights at 100 yds with a pop can laying down facing me. That took practice but it paid off...
-
hmmm :dunno: I shot my late buck this year at 481 yrds and only used one shell ... what did I do wrong? :chuckle:
I wonder how many of us shot at our first deer with the same amount of skill level :dunno:
:stirthepot:
Its not his first deer I did a search of FB too and the account he posted the video under looks to be his wife's as well as the FB account, there are many previous years of hunting pics.
-
Sadly there was a guy in my elk camp who had this exact mentality. I will not be returning to that elk camp next year. I was actually glad that we didn't get any shots out this year.
-
Must have been an ex girlfriend or wife who posted that on YouTube!
Nope the dates on you tube they were put up over 1 yr ago so that would be right after the hunt ... After reading the comments on you tube I don't see why they left it up :dunno: there isn't one positive remark yet they have let it run and those comments are old too in fact one of the very first comments asks him to please take it down!!! :bash: I can see someone getting excited but then when you get blasted on your own video link, don't you think about it a little and come to your senses???
Look he is just not a very smart person, And everyone is expecting this not so smart of a person to have practiced, and become ethical? You know the saying??? "You cant fix stupid" and unfortunately there are stupid people that hunt and so like everything else a few bad apples will ruin it for the whole bunch. This is the type of stuff that the anti's drool over cause you know all of us hunters are just like this

It was on another topic where a convo about shooting at running game. One response was that a semi auto would be hunted with in the future. IS THAT REALLY WHAT HUNTING IS ABOUT NOW, MOST BULLETS IN GAME ANIMAL?
-
Little late on this one. Video has been removed. Gee I wonder why.
