Title: Buckeye Trail Cams
Post by: clindsayrun on December 21, 2008, 01:05:35 AM
My employer just ordered the BuckEye Orion wireless setup. After the base station we could only afford three cameras.

Anyone else ever use this setup? I know it's pricey, but I think it'll be worth it.

interesting, cuz I was just checking those out online again today.  These are wireless cameras that can transmit the picture back to a base station, connect to a PC. The cool thing about them is that they can linked together, like repeaters to extend the range, and you can control upto 30 cameras with one base station rig.  They say with the antennas you can get out 10 miles, but in general you can expect about 1-1/2 to 2 mile range.  Which means you could "theoretically" connect 30 of these cameras, space about 2 miles apart, and get pictures back to your PC from a camera 60 miles away.  The software can also be setup to automatically email the pictures.  The basic kit with base station and remote camera and software run about $1800, and individual cameras are on sale right now for just under $900.  You can also get a better, high-gain, directional antenna that can extend your range as well.  Let me know how you like the setup...I'm very interested.
