Woohoo. Amber passed her physicals, eyes, heart, elbows and hips. The vet even said she couldn't have more perfect looking hips. Now we're just waiting for the genetic testing to see if she is a carrier for ichthyosis, a potential skin rash/itchy/dandruff condition. Her mom was a carrier so she has a 50/50 chance of being a carrier. Fortunately, it is a recessive trait so dogs have to have both alleles (variations of the gene) to show this phenotype (outward expression of genes).
Next step, find her a boyfriend.

Here are some pics.

She is a cutie.

Beautiful pup. It's ashame you have to do so much testing with certain breeds to guarantee their health. Kudos to you for having the breeds best interest in mind. If there were more people like you, we wouldn't have many of the issues we do with some breeds!
-
You got the cheap part done, now for the part that tests them between the ears. How old is she?

Alexi and Sam's Lil' Bro Terlingua
Good Hips, Elbows, Eyes. Not sure on the Ichthyosis.
He's Qualified All Age and Jammed his last four Open All Age entries. He's a training partners dog. Good looking golden too. Darker color and nice size about 70-75lbs.
Let me know if you want contact info. Dog is currently running trials in Texas. Probably be back local around April/May depending upon Montana weather. He's produced a big litter or two already. Rob will require OFFA results, not a vet saying they look good. Have the films been sent to OFFA?

Terlingua? Tell Amber to watch out for them cowboys :chuckle:
Glad she is healthy

Yes, it has been sent in. We think she will come in sometime in January. She has not been really regular.
Ww, she is a bit over two. She has her Started Retriever title, and is a smart dog that loves birds and hunting them.
Here's a link to more of her info. http://www.k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=513545 (http://www.k9data.com/pedigree.asp?ID=513545)

Amber is a beautiful Golden.

If I may ask, where did you get her?
-
Woop woop, go amber!

Windy Ridge Kennel in southern OR. I think they may have retired from the breeding game though.
Here is a series of photos at the beach, she spotted a piece of driftwood that she thought was a bird. I love how she pops up to try to get a better view.

Man she is a pretty little thing. I've got pup fever because we're getting a beagle pup or two in the summer and I keep coming back to look at her
-
we should breed my dog and yours :D
-
 go Amber!
I fell in love with her at the bbq, make lots more Ambers and bring them next year ;) :chuckle:

Ummm, yeah.... ;) My wife's been looking at a lot of potential suitors. We did find out that she is a carrier for the icthyosis gene so that reduces the potential mates a bit. :(

One of the most successful goldens in Field Trial history resides here. John and Janice Gunn. Great folks.

or, email Chris Braswell. She bred John Gunns dog and many other successful hunting goldens.

Both know me pretty well let them know I sent you.

That's interesting Happy. Our golden, Loki, was Boomer's daughter.
-
with all of the important titles being "IN FRONT" of the name on the pedigree, Boomer got a lot of attention. Janice runs high level of obedience and agility stuff with all Johns field trial dogs.

Well it looks like we've lined up a boyfriend for Amber. Mulligan out of Semper Retrievers in Portland. What a beautiful and talented dog (and great pedigree!) I've also had fun putting together a website for Amber. In case anyone is interested:
www.islandgoldretrievers.com (http://www.islandgoldretrievers.com)
Now we wait for her to go into heat...hopefully sometime in late Jan/early Feb.
Here's a photo from when we met Mulligan (Amber on the left, Mulligan on the right)

And... it's time for an ultrasound tomorrow to see how many are in there. She's put on 3.3 pounds on her 43.4 pound normal weight. She had a little while where she wasn't eating very well, upset stomach? But now she is back to her meals. Hope there are a few in there any ways.
-
How'd it go?
-
Well, the vet was pretty non-commital as ultrasound is not super accurate, but it looked like at least 6 to me.
-
Alright!
-
Amber has really plumped up in the last few days.
-
I eat for six too, but I don't have a good reason. :)
-
Good luck, can't wait for pictures.
-
Here is today's pic of Amber. I can't imagine what she is going to look like in two weeks when they hatch. :yike: She has put on ten pounds now, she started out at 43.5 pounds. We can feel some heads in there and every now and then they kick a little.
I really hope there are more than six since we have six deposits and two on the waiting list, one of those is for a medical service dog and the other is someone in Finland that does search and rescue and a whole lot of other stuff.

Poor girl.. when my bitch looked like that she ended up having eleven :o
