-
Send the pic to your email from your phone and then I trust you know how to get it on here from your email. :)
-
hahah. Just send it like you would normally send a picture message to a phone number but instead of putting a number in there write you email in there
-
From the info I got, the buck is a 5x8 31" outside spread. It does have some extra kickers and such. Guessing to score 190+. I'm going to get to see the rack tommorrow and maybe get a real pic. :)
-
Well Congrats to you Matt, I know you looked over a lot of deer and put your time in. Its nice to see someone that truely appreciates what they have in that tag and puts the effort in to it without hunting from the computer. :brew:

LOL, me too

Sounds like a whopper...Can't wait to see the pictures.
-
I've seen a pic of the deer and I'd like to congratuate Matt on a sweet looking buck. You did the Gov Tag proud.
-
OK, so what is the Governor's tag? :dunno:
-
One tag is auctioned off every year for a Eastside Deer, WestSide Deer, Eastern Elk, Western Elk, Moose, Sheep etc. The tags go to the highest bidder in the auction and raise a lot of money for F&W. With these tags the hunter can hunt any unit from Sept. 1 to Dec 31 with any weapon.

Thanks. Never heard it referred to that before.
-
now about that picture, for those of us that aren't quite as connected......
-
Yeah, technically we don't have a governor's tag, like some states, just auction tags. But then again, half the state still refers to the Department of Game, instead of Fish and Wildlife... so I'm guessing the "Governor's Tag" thing isn't going to change anytime soon!
-
I do know that I need a better job so I could help raise some funds for them. Course if I didn't buy raffle tags every year for 5 years I might be able to afford it.
-
You could trade that lens for it :chuckle:
-
Half of it anyhow.
-
No, Not the lens Bone. :chuckle:
-
Course with the lens, I get to do the govenors tag hunt EVERY YEAR :chuckle: and I don't have to worry about where in the garage I am going to have to stack yet another set of antlers.

With that lens you could down grade buy the gov tag and still find a lens to shoot with every year! :dunno: And if you think it's only Garage worthy I have space in my house!
-
What Unit did he get hin in? Where are the Pics?
-
First of all, you all need to know that Matt is a fanatical hunter and is not much into telling stories. In fact, he has already filled in his free time, that he had set aside for this deer tag, with some bird hunting. He spent 30+ days of "hunting his ass off" from Aug 1 until just recently, in areas from the Desert Unit north to the Methow and even the North East. Here is the great buck he harvested somewhere between the Desert Unit and Winthrop.
-
Good gawd that's a beast. Congrat's to him.
-
Awesome buck. Congrats to him on a well-earned trophy.
-
Unreal!!! Thats all I have to say
-
Is that a bull elk or deer? My lord.
-
What a tremendous buck!! Glad to see a "hunter" killed him, instead of a guy just pulling the trigger and rollin out. Congrats to the hunter...
-
Wow! Congratulations, he earned him!
-
Is that a bull elk or deer? My lord.
DELK , that is a freaking brute. congrats
-
Awesome buck! :yike: Finally...a PICTURE. Congrats to the hunter.
-
Sounds like he really earned that buck...Trophy of a lifetime for sure.
-
Fantastic
deaddog may be onto something with "DELK".
-
Impressive buck! Congrats to him!
-
Delk :chuckle: :chuckle:
Hope Deaddog doesn't mind if I use that one, hillarious.
-
Nice buck...what was final cost to him/benefit to all the rest of us hunters? I think these tags are great and everyone else only gains by guys like this. As long as they don't start giving out huge numbers of tags like this I think we all win and get to see a huge buck.
-
Nice to see that washingtons still got it in her to throw out monsters.
-
That things a stud. Way more impressive than it looks on a cell phone pic. Nice Job!!!
MS
-
Fantastic Washington buck! Glad to see a deserving person take advantage of a great opportunity. Not to mention all the dollars he generated for wildlife!
-
That is one of the biggest wa bucks I have seen in a long time.
-
Why do people feel the need to reveal where these bucks come from? Just draws big crowds to areas.
-
Unless they secure permission (highly unlikely) they won't be shooting any bucks where that was shot. So there should be no more pressure in that area then any other time.
-
That thing is a pig!! :o I hope i will find one close to that some day. :chuckle:
-
I passed on him at 30yrds in the early season........then i woke up ;) ;) Nice ,nice buck. Very cool shape on the rack.
-
Very Nice Buck!!! Luv the trash!!! Congrats
-
what a monster. congrats on the buck of the century. He sure has it all.
-
Good God That thing is huge. Congrads to the hunter. Now Just wondering what weapon?
-
:o :o :o :o :o Great Buck 8) 8) 8)
-
Congrats to the hunter, glad that an actual hunter killed the buck of his dreams.....
-
WoW! Thats an awsome buck! :) Congrats!
-
All I can say ... what a freakin pig. Damn nice buck there. Congrats...
-
Outstanding buck!!! I woulf love to have Matt get on here and tell the story. Good Job on a beautiful trophy.
-
What a beautiful deer. Drawing crowds to where Grizz. There is alot of realestate between the desert and Winthrop. Anyhow what 257 said about a deserving hunter harvesting a wonderful animal.
-
:yike: That is an awesome buck for WA!!!! Well deserved for someone that puts in that much time!!!!!!
-
I heard that the hunt was captured on video. Any chance that it will be uploaded to the net, or are we going to have to wait to see it on television?
-
Just one more final note, Matt scouted starting Aug.1, he didn't start hunting until Sept.1
-
Why do people feel the need to reveal where these bucks come from? Just draws big crowds to areas.
thats a joke right?
-
Wow, That's a big boy!!! :drool:Glad to see there are still bucks like that in this state. Gives me something to shoot for. Great job and congrats.
-
That things a stud. Way more impressive than it looks on a cell phone pic. Nice Job!!!
:yeah:
It looked super impressive then but ... Holy $hi+!!!! that thing is a pig Nice Job Matt :)
-
WOW!! :o Congrats!
-
That's a sweet buck! Real stickers with some length. Way to go!
-
JDB and BoneAddict actually there was a more precise area that was given away in the thread earlier that was deleted.
-
Great looking buck! Congrats to the shooter!
-
well Matt has been busy shooting geese and ducks I don't think he has even visited this site yet..and Annie his lab has been getting a work out. It is really a shame to spend as much time with Matt hunting this deer and to see so few quality bucks some of the old stand by areas have been pretty much over hunted.Where 5 years ago you would see many 170+ bucks today you can count a 1000+ deer and see 1 buck that will go 170+.This was a great tag 4,5,6 years ago but believe me you have to put the time in now and have a few eye's out there helping out. Matt and I went to Alberta this year too and the 1st day Matt shot a 180+ mule deer they are behind every bush it seems and for alot less money than the cost of a auction or Gov. permit..Only a matter of time till this state has to go to all permits on the eastside.. Really sad to say but there is getting to be a house on every hill or a new orchard or fence everywhere you look..winter ground is becoming a thing of the past.
-
I echo your statement about permit only in eastern washington in the future, problem is there will be so few breeder bucks left it will be too late, throw in a few other variables, 10 years from now a 4 point buck will be a trophy for this state. I think these permit hunts, where you are allowed to hunt till dec 31st, is a real good indication of how many big boys are left.
-
Anyone familar with Chloe Chevail? or whatever the winery below bear mountain? Worked up there in november seen a great big 5 x 6 biggest thing I have seen this year I could stretch him but he was a solid 26 inch plus buck with very nice mass a really daddy. anywayz I know this isnt a thread about winter range but since it was mentioned I will put my thought in. This guy was in a vineyard probably part of his normal winter range and couldnt get out of the deer fence I dont know how he got in anywayz he spent several hours trying to get out. . .finally some guys came through on ATVs and kinda gently chased him out I was really unhappy to see such a big deer get pinnned down in fences and not be out roaming and picking up a few hot doe. Ticked me off. . .wish I would have had my camera to prove it but all I got is my story. . .Saw something similar over in hawks meadow right across the main highway from there Its a shame to see prime wintering grounds and breeding grounds to boot get developed. Ruins any chances of producing a healthier herd and bigger deer. Sad but I wish they would go all permit hunting eastside.
-
Why do people feel the need to reveal where these bucks come from? Just draws big crowds to areas.
I know exactly where that buck came from. I watch them every year and NO I'm not saying anything to anyone.
I do have to agree that we're losing a ton of the wintering ground to development, etc. It's having a negative impact on our herds, especially when combined with the unlimited tags and poor predator management.
-
I think the trophy units in this state were the governor tag holders hunt are over hunted by the bow hunters. The season are to long and they are wounding to many deer >:(. If you found a good spot keep between yourself and your hunting buddies do post so the world can know. That what the hunting and fish news does ruins all the good spots.
-
If you really want quality then it will require less permits and tighter control. Better start letting the department know your thoughts whenever possible. Personally, I would rather have a chance at a giant buck every 5 years than see what is currently happening. It is a ton of fun to help a person with a great tag while waiting for your turn.....not everyone sees it this way but more every year. We can grow some awesome bucks in this state as you can occasionally see.
-
QUOTE FROM VIDEOMAN:I think the trophy units in this state were the governor tag holders hunt are over hunted by the bow hunters. The season are to long and they are wounding to many deer
Are you kidding me videoman! 18 days during the rut in the Entiat for rifle hunters isn't too long? Archery guys wounding too many deer. Your statement is rediculous and sounds like its coming from a road hunting rifle hunter that hasn't filled a tag in awhile
-
I AGREE WITH ELKSTUFFER. J
-
I am a bow hunter.....but I totally disagree with Vidman on the wounding deer BS. Bow hunters wound no more then rifle hunters period. I do think there are too many late tags in the Entiat and I think they need to reduce all the tag numbers. I agree with Vidman that the bow hunters should be reduced probably more then the others in that unit, but open up a couple late tags in other units. It would spread the hunters out, and still maintain the same income to WDFW on applications. As far as trophy hunting goes I have seen some serious abuse of quality tags that were intended for quality deer. I would say using any LE tag to shoot a dink outside of youth hunters is the greatest waste of large buck genetics.
-
I think that all late weather/rut hunts should be closed personally even the draw tags . . .its to easy to kill these deer when they come down to survive and breed. Its not like they spend all summer in canada or in another state. I say find em early and take em out when they are at their best. not when they are doe hungry and stupid. Just my personal thoughts. I hate to see people hunting clear into december deer dont have the same odds of fair chase as they do in october or september
-
Wilson....the land owner of most of the Eastern side of Bear Mountain, and the North/West side fo the butte is the biggest MF'R, CS'R, DB, jerk, butt pirate, around. Oh his name is Jerry Scholfield. He is the epitomy of the classic anti-hunting prick right up with Jane Fonda. Oh yeah I won't go into all the land he posts, politics to eliminate access, and just flat blocks off that is not his and never will be his. Oh yeah did I mention his big push to make a large section of the Entiat unit "Disabled Hunter Only", that not a single disabled hunter could have actually hunted. He is a MF'r equal to the best. Just thought I would let you know. Oh yeah did I say I really don't care for the guys Anti-Hunting beliefs.
-
Thanks for the info. . .I dont know the guy/owners personally but I really hate the system up there I can tell you that. Absoluty drives me crazy when they shut down public access to state federal or any land in between really frustrates me. I actually dont hunt that area but there is a ton of deer and state land up behind the winery and the golf course. I wish I had enough money to shut the place down.
-
Unless they secure permission (highly unlikely) they won't be shooting any bucks where that was shot. So there should be no more pressure in that area then any other time.
So if it's private property and no one can hunt it why is it such a secret?
-
By the way how many of you knew that there were only 2 enforcement officer protecting our wildlife from Chelan to Leavenworth to I-90 sure doesn't seem this state really cares if there is any one out there protecting them. had to drive by 20 Washington State patrol writing tickets every day it seemed to do this hunt, you can really tell what this state cares about when they fund things. I get to leave tomorrow for an Ibex archery tag in New Mexico and will be lucky if I make it out of the state without a ticket and bet I don't see a state patrol in another state the rest of the way down. You guys have a happy new year I will be spending it on top of a mountain.
-
Well with Gregiores proposed budget cuts I suppose there will be one officer now.
And as for the rest of the wildlife. Not sure what late hunts or permit hunts in all of Eastern Washington have to do with developement and winter range. Two different topics. I often do wonder why it is we still have hunting season clear to the end of december. I was kind of shocked to see folks still out hunting. How in the hell do you sort it out who is poaching and shoving racks under their hoods and who is hunting a legit hunt. How many times was the govenor tag fellow reported for poaching? Law abiding citizens doing their job yet causing nothing but a pain in the ass to the guy, but have to be thankful they were watching. Lots of emotion with this. Start preaching shorter seasons and the bowhunters get upset. Start preaching eastern washington draw only and I get upset as I live in Eastern Washington and might get to hunt deer three times the rest of my life versus every year. We area all going to have to sacrifice in order to get the herd back. Unfortunately its all on the governors level and apparantly all like how she is doing things. I see some good things happening withthe state picking up ground for core winter range, but I bet Gregiore will sacrifice that before her big house. Look how many funds come in for wildlife. When there is none, where is she going to get her funds then. As for land owners....yes I think its a bitch when they can block public land. On a good note, if it weren't for some of these refuges, not sure where some of the deer around here would go. Right now private land is what is saving our deer herd. This deer was practically a pet, living in folks yards. How do you think he got so big. Not putting down the hunter or the deer. He worked hard and thats where he found the big one.....The last three biggest bucks I have seen so far this year have been sitting nice and cozy in somebodies yard. Why, they get shot by some poaching *censored* in broad daylight because there are no game cops out there. Then some dick cheeze on here comes and bitches as soon as a game cop does his or her job.
-

WOW! Don't even know where to start with all this gibberish BS.
-
not that i want to give up hunting but lets just say that for three years not one person bought a licence or tag for anything. i think it would be a huge eye opener for the good bad and the ugly!! whats would that do for the herds? laws? lawmakers?
-
The herds would do well, photography would be fun and shed hunting would too again. The states budget would collapse........
-

I only disagree with you on one issue and that is the fact that this deer was a pet.
He got big because he was smart! You wouldnt find him in peoples yard until the snow pushed him down. And they are sitting nice and cozy in someones yard because they have been chasing deer coochie and are dog ass tired!
-
i think it would be a big eye opener to those tree huggers just how much the hunters contribute to this state and what we all do. any true hunter will tell you that if you care about your wildlife, hunt them!!
-
Yawn........
-
Not sure there's 1 right answer. My thought is that the animals need to come before selling tags.
If they were to provide consistent opportunities for great bucks (which we have the genetics for in many areas) the revenue would roll in. Unfortunately we need to elect the right people to make it happen which seems to be a problem.
-
I hunted north of chelan several different areas didnt see one single enforcment officer. didnt see any ilegal activity either. But I do agree with Bone its hard to tell the difference between a legit hunter and a poacher. I did hear they caught a couple poachers up methow (twisp?) but i didnt hear the final details on it. i dont mind people owning land and allowing deer to winter on it I think thats great. . . Chlo Chevail and hawk meadow do not allow deer to range free in normal wintering grounds. and yeah no big deal deer will have to adjust to the deer fences and getting herded out by four wheelers when they find their way in. its going to be a painful process for the deer is all I am sure off. Its great when landowners allow deer to come in a cross and browse their land I personally plant evergreen deer food for them to come few do though. but when they fence and then chase the deer off I dont think thats helping deer survive the winter.

For you Elkstuffer
-
I can go all day long if you like. You should not call anybody a road hunter unless you know. That is like throwing sand in some ones face.
-
You can keep posting pics like that if thats what you mean. Nice animals! I also think the seasons tend to be a little long, or am at least surprised to know how long they seemed to last this year. I for one would love to hunt as much as possible, but it seems to me that the wildlife take a beating in this state from Sept to Jan. Not even considering this tag either by the way, I am thinking in terms of general.....
-
Seems to me is that there are just too many general tags out there.
-
Videoman, I didn't actually call you a road hunter. The "blanket" statement in your post just sounded like it came from one. Nice animals by the way. You can post as many as you want. I'll never get tired of looking at good hunting pictures. Dall sheep with a bow is my dream hunt. Someday.
-
No kidding..any sheep with a bow
-
You know it Bone!!!!!
-
What a monster buck! I heard the video turned out good. :IBCOOL:
-
That's a dandy buck for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
By the way I have the governors deer hunt on video and I am editing it this week.
-
you have to share :'(
-
Congrats to him on a very awesome buck!!!
-
are you editing out all the houses in the background..... :chuckle:
-
and the upset woman shaking her fist at you.....
-
Can you please edit out the rope tied around the deers neck?
-
Guess we had better let Bone tell the story.
-
Probably not a good idea. I tend to not be very politically correct. I also tend to have a pretty jaded view on alot of subjects. Some might even call it elitist. Did I spell it right this time?
-
Just sounds like you might know more of the story than the people that were actually there. Kind of bad when you don't know anything about it. You post on here and others will believe what you write based on you status. Not sure I agree with that.
-
By the way I have the governors deer hunt on video and I am editing it this week.
Right on Videoman, cant wait to see it.
-
wow great buck.. i dont know where you got that beast but it is a true trophy. My cousin shot one pretty similar in size in the desert unit this year.. i will try and see what i can do with pics..
-
Always great to look at huge bucks.

I heard of a younger guy killing a 31" buck with some nice droppers. Please post the pics. I have been dying to see this buck.

I am actually trying to be respectful WABONE. Wouldn't do anyone anygood to post any coordinates or details whether I was there or not. I am pretty sure the animal wasn't harvested way back in the mountains with no witnesses around. I am also holding my tongue on my particular views of this hunt out of respect to the animal and the man that contributed to our wildlife. It was an outstanding animal and taken Fair Chase. Thats awesome. As for my character and people believing me for what I say, that comes out of earning their respect and alot of folks on here know what kind of man I am and what I stand for. No offense intended. Most videos we see on TV are canned hunts anyway, in fenced in enclosures. I know this wasn't that way. You know the details well enough to know what it was apparantly. Would you like to paint the picture of when and where. If so, go right ahead I'd love to hear your view.
-
Anyone remember the broad-view buck you know the one that lived in the parking lot of Walmart or Target or what ever??
I love SUV's with spotting scopes on peoples sidewalks horn dogging there pets :yike:
-
Seems someone got up on wrong side of the bed. Night night WA
-
The governors tag is sold to the highest bidder to raise money for our wildlife whether he is a rich man or a poor man that saved his dollars. The disrespect that some people write when they have no idea. I know the buck was killed fair chase. The governors tag give you what no other tag does the opportunity to hunt the deer legally when know one else is chase them to higher ground. If you are interested in see how it actually happened. I will be selling a video called Washington Tags. It consist of 2 sheep, 2 moose, 2 mountain goats, and one deer hunt all from washington and all huge trophies.
-
Its weird how a guy gets to shoot a buck of a lifetime and since he had a special tag people assume it was a "show up and shoot the deer under the apple tree" type hunt, when they werent even there. :dunno:
-
I'd like to see the video when will it be available?
-
The Washington Tags video will be done in 2 weeks. It has taken me 2 years to put together. I also have a video call East to West North to South. It have a dall sheep hunt, Brown Bear, Coues Deer, 2 Lynx, Boston Sea Duck and an Idaho deer hunt. I posted pics of the Dall Sheep and the deer I killed in Idaho on page 7 or 8 of governor tag forum.
-
To get back on the point: What is the difference in you drive up a road get out of the truck walk up a hill and kill a big buck .vs drive down a road park at someone house walk up a hill and shoot a big buck. Whats the difference. Either way you are still doing the same thing.
-
The difference for me is the thrill of the hunt. Nice buck nonetheless.
-
I would love to shoot 1 that big and be able to put it into my truck whole.
Hey Duck, all you have to do is become a Yakima tribal member and you can do about 7 of them that way. Same place, same time frame. I think its being insinuated that I am being disrespectful and I don't want to be. For the record, I think the funds raised are awesome.

Lets not get it twisted people, Matt hunted his ass off and in no way should be compared to Agnew or the like. He was out there the whole time, not sitting waiting for a call from a hired guide. I know the places he was hitting on a regular basis and the time and miles he put in. I believe most on this site would have dropped the same buck if given the same circumstances, just my opinion.
I can't wait to see the video, I hope there is a lot of this buck on the hoof before he tagged him.

Glad to see that a real hunter got the Gov's Tag this year. Good for him. One day....one day....

Well said phool, +1 here.
It's no wonder the gov tag people don't want to put their pics and stories on here with all the BS comments over the last couple days. :bash:

I have seen all of videomans (nice name nerd :chuckle:) videos and let me tell you they are great. I know for a fact that these guys spend more time in the woods than any of us hands down. I know we have some biologists and forestry guys on here too but these guys are 24/7 in the woods, not only is it there jobs but there passions as well. These guys hunt their a$$e$ off and take some incredible animals every year. 99.9 % of us who hunt Washington or even live here in the state will never see the state as they have. These guys are the real deal 100%. They know more about our moose, goats, sheep and other critters than most of our bios. do, no offense to you all. So I must tell you if you want to see some great footage of some WA. critters buy the DVDs. Bone if you like moose you will like these videos. Hey videoman do you have my BT hunt from last year done yet? Add on the bear too. :chuckle:
