The dike at biringer farm looks like it was broke and channels have been dug out by heavy equipment. I am just wondering if it will be open for hunting?.
-
Really 84 views and no one has anything to say :o
-
Idk if it will be open I just know they wanted to open up the dikes around the area there let the water take its course again
-
New project, most probably have not heard of it. I do see birds in that field along with deer. Don't know if it's open to hunting.
-
There had been talk about the dikes being broken in that area for years.
-
Anyone know who actually owns the property now?

The Port of Everett owns it. My guess would be it'll be a wildlife "sanctuary" with no hunting. Keeping my fingers crossed that it isn't designated that though.
-
That being said, I highly doubt the Port of Everett will allow hunting :bash:
They will argue we have the North end of Spencer Island.
-
The port f Everett purchased that land in the 90's to use as a wetlands bank for projects at the port, when they take tidal land at the port they have to replace it somewhere, the "bank" is used to fulfill that obligation, same thing they did at union slough, do they allow hunting there at the union slough project?, usually they are turned into wetland conservation area.
-
no hunting im sure. its for the wetlands/tidal restoration they have been talking about for years. I know the berringer had huge problems with it a few years ago.
-
So the positive is that it will be more soft water for birds to stage...
-
Unfortunately there is rarely anything that could be described as new hunting access on this side of the state. If it is huntable it is probably a lease. If the port owns it I am 99.9% sure it is not huntable. There is a salmon restoration project in between the sewer plant and Spencer that is not posted but is off limits (not that you would want to hunt it anyway), be careful...the lack of signage is not a free pass to hunt, and it can get confusing in that area.

Not really an argument? You do have the north end of Spencer.... :dunno:

Exactly. 10 years ago you could walk in and hunt most of the area. now you need a boat

It's a short swim.
-
I did some checking on this and found out the property is private and closed to public access. The dike has not been breeched, the work going on is one of the phases of the project.. there are signs around the property in various spots and at the gate..
-
Looks like every duck in the county is in this place. I wish someone would go in there and scare them out.
-
Kind of nasty all them ducks sitting in the waste plant lake as for bringer wow be very close to Frwy Joe public would freak :yike:
-
You could sluice a few limits from the freeway.
-
Park on the shoulder and walk on in lol almost every time I drive by there the same coyote is out in that field.... Monster bt out there to seen many crossing sloughs in my time.... Once 3 huge bucks 5 feet away from me swimming across
-
I'd suggest calling the property manager for the Port of Everett and asking. If the dikes are breached, it's probably OK to boat in and hunt. When I last checked, Everett was allowing folks to duck hunt the breached dikes between Union Slough and the sewage ponds, by boat. Not too sure about eating those birds...
-
Get in a boat go up to a dike and blast them as they go in and out. That's the way of hunting the sloughs. It will take a good year to develop the place and then it will be a great resting spot. Having a boat changes a lot of hunting for the better. There are spots to decoy. Get out and learn the area. There are so many spots around when you have a good boat. Unless you have leased property it remains to a go of it. Walk in spots are not as easy as going east on public property over here. That spot for resting birds will hold them and keep more for the local area. Yes, lots of deer back in there, good comment H20.
-
I actually just pasted this area and there was a boat pulled up on the sloughs edge with a guy walking in looking like he was about to hunt. Not sure if it is legal but I'm sure this guy is about to have his limit within minutes.
-
As stated before there is no breached dikes, the flood gate has broken and repairs are being conducted to fix this issue.there is no public access to the property for hunting or anything else.. far as the guy yesterday sneeking over the dike, didn't see a bird fall when shots fired, just ruined a great resting/staging area for all us a hunting around this area till seasons end...

are you sure? They were digging trenches from the middle of the field to the edge of the slough a couple of weeks ago, they have also been saying for years that those fields were going to be flooded
-
NW-GSP...YES,I'm positive they started work on fixing the gate yesterday..that work was stage one of many over the next few yrs..

Funny thing is a couple weekends ago we saw probably 7 boats all pulled up there and several guys packing decoys back there. Seems nobody thought it was private property and crowded into the place.
I'd find somebody and beat them if they did that to me. Just goes to show how many slobs there are out there.
