The last three of my daughters took hunters safety. Of course they all wanted to kill a deer. With basket ball, church and life in general hunting seemed to take a second seat. I did take them out several times, and we hunted many miles on foot only to be skunked. So November 17 roles around and still no deer for my gun toting girls! I wake up in the morning early and its foggy and cold. Frost is freezing everywhere. As it gets lighter out side I see a buck chasing a doe in the pasture. I yell at my daughter Jayci to get up stairs. She is in the shower. Her sister gets her out and she throws some clothes on, and out on the deck we go. I get the buck to stop and she can't find him in the scope!! He takes off again and I stop him one last time before he hits the timber, and I ask if she has him. She says yes and the 243 barked. Perfect shot! He dropes 20 yards later and my 12 year old has her first deer!!

Lets try this again!! My oldest daughter came home for a visit with my grandson. I asked if she would like to go hunting while she was here and she said, she hoped I would ask. So we went and bought a tag, dusted off my wifes Hoyt Vixen, and started practicing. Two days later she was splitting hairs and i had her climb 38' up to one of my stands. 3 hours later and a 17 yard shot, she had her first deer in 5 years. ( college and babys take its toll on Hunting).

Now that the season has one week left in it I Guess I should go hunting. I had a couple of shooters coming in so i went and sat for 4 days waiting for my #1 choice. Well he skipped town and it was time for plan b. I went and pulled cards and talked to my bro. in law and decided I would hunt one of his stands. ( he owed me. he has killed 6 or 7 elk out of my stands) :chuckle:. Off I go to my plan b stand. i get set up by 9 am and here comes the rain. :bash:. Exactly 6 hours and 13 minutes later, and a half an inch of rain, here he comes. I had a terrible wind and knew I had to shoot him before he winded me. 25 yard quartering away shot and my 78# hoyt laid the smack down on him. With both lungs pierced and his left front shoulder smashed, he still went 250 yards. Made for some difficult tracking in the rain. i found him though and the rest is history. I am still going to get plan A though.......next year :chuckle:
oh yeah, when he was charging off the hill he barked a tree so hard with his head that he broke his nose and bottom jaw! :yike: I then had to drag him uphill about 60 yards to an old skid trail to where I could get the 4 wheeler too. Boy this 46 year old body didnt like loading him by myself!

Nice work, buckman! I'm glad your girls got deer. My oldest is just now hitting the age to start hunting so I expect my hunting for the next 15 yrs will be primarily dedicated to my kids.

Couldnt have been that hard to load up! I mean you shoot a 78 # bow... so a deer should be easy! :chuckle:
