I am seeing lots of different info, and having a hard time finding anything official. How does one become a duck guide? Is there somewhere one can see this info? Im just curious as I have seen little to no people offering guided hunts. Is it illegal in the state? Is that why everything is hunt club? Just looking to shed some light on this.

Look in the bird regs, guided hunts advertised everywhere

No, it's not illegal. There are plenty of duck and goose guides in the state, but most are on the east side of the state.
There is really nothing that is required to become a guide. Basically all you need is a good place to hunt, preferably private property.

Wa. state doesn't require a guide to be licensed. I'm not licensed but I do very few guided hunts anymore. Yes I do own some properties as well as a few leases on res. N&S Guide/Service Yakima Valley.

I guess my main question would of been is it something that's regulated via permit or liscence. Thanks
-
The only time a guide would need a permit is if he were guiding on public land.

I think if you are a guide using a boat you may have some insurance and other issues. :dunno:

State may not have anything, but the federal guide lines do for migratory waterfowl. You would have to be licensed if you take payment for your guided hunts. Falls under the Lacey Act if caught otherwise.

Only if you wanna tax right off everyyear and have insurance to be licensed as a guide buissnes. I know the laws trust me there's still many loop holes in the system. I'm a owner of my family Tire Factory so I all about buisness laws and ect ect

You have to have an OUPV captains license to have a paying customer on any boat. State also requires insurance.

If you take clients in a boat with a motor, and accept payment for services then you need to have a captains license. Call wdfw they will inform you of anything you will need. I know when it comes to hunting and the use of boats some guys have gotten away with not having the captains license and other haven't. Better to be safe then sorry, just contact them. The Coast Guard has a say on what licenses you need as well which is why you would need the captains license if you were on federally navigable waters. Deer, bear, coyote and Turkey hunting you don't need to have anything if you are guiding on private ground. Fishing you need to have the states food fish or game fish guide license which is a fee, $300,000 in commercial liability insurance, captains license, first aid and cpr, business license, tax id number, drug test, twic card pass the coast guard 6pack test, pay fees, physical, and a few other things for the coast guard requirements for the Captains license which the state wants now. There are getting to be more and more things the state wants to be a guide anymore from what they wanted just 6 years ago.

:yeah: My hats off to all the guides that run their clients on rivers and oceans on a boat.
