Real tough to get a tag in the Floridas for a nonresident, pricey too.  Save the stench and pack, go stalk the beasties with your eyes and maybe a camera.  Be careful out there

I really didn't think you had that many choices.

Pass. I am only a few hours from there but they have made it clear that they don't appreciate non residents funding their conservation efforts. They can pay for it themselves.

Last year it was decided that instead of residents and non residents alike having a shot at all 20 of those tags, that the NM % rule will apply. So If you put in, you and every other hajj outside New Mexico will be going after one single tag out of the 20. There are no preference points.

Save your coin in your retirement account and keep your health up for a hunt when you're 60. Or buy a lottery ticket. I think your odds aren't much worse. :twocents:

Thanks guys i know it's a crap shot for a draw tag I just didn't want to put in and go down blind and eat a tag!!! The private land owner tags are getting outrageous to shoot a stinky little sheep but oh do they look awesome

Oh sorry my post was 100% about the Ibex.

Barbary sheep has a lot more options.

From my research so far it includes both Barbary and ibex the locals don't want to share the info or tags!! Kinda sounds like us local colockum boys on are big Bulls tags :)

A lot of New Mexicans don't like the Barbary's. They claim that the Barbary presence is competition for Bighorns and they would rather have bighorn tags than Barbary tags. I looked into it a few years ago but found that a lot of them are on private land, even though New Mexico does have plenty of public land to hunt.

The odds were bad enough, but with that NR change it about made it impossible.

I put in before they changed the allocation for the number of tags that could go non resident. No luck drawing then. Even slimmer odds now. I still would like to hunt an ibex.

Yep, me too, but I doubt it now.

I have had the opportunity to hunt both in New Mexico. The Ibex was with a bow 2 times and with out a doubt a very very difficult hunt, that also needs for you to have spotters to locate them and radio you what to do.  We did not harvest either time. Radio's are legal for them. It was a hunt where I found most of the non-residents only showed up and turned around and went home. As for the audad I hunted public ground with a rifle and did alot of walking and ended up harvesting a very nice ram. The areas I hunted them in had no wild sheep in the areas for them to compete with.
If I was going for a ibex again it would be in Russia or some place else. It turnes out for us non residents it is almost impossible to draw a tag and pretty pricey too.

I put in for the ibex archery for a long time until they made the change to front the money.  It's still about the same odds to draw as it was then at about 1:10 for non resident.
