It's been a dream of mine to have a fireplace and great room like this.
We are so blessed to be able to build our home.
The mantle is a cherry tree that I had to cut down for the house. Took a chainsaw to it then planed it and roughed it up. Turned out real nice. I was also able to use 2 cedar trees for our covered patio out back. I finished these using a 80+ year old draw knife my grandpa gave me

Boy that wall and room were built for those elk looks awesome!

That is definitely a GREAT room  Beautiful craftsmanship and the bulls look awesome. I feel for the house keeper that's tasked with dusting the cob webs :o

Faux or not, it looks fantastic! And the elk fit nicely with plenty of room for the next great trophy mount.
Kinda makes me want to crack open a beer and relax while dreaming of next years hunting season ;)

Couple different angles.

Looking good. Love the floors.
-
The floors look like Acacia. My last build was all natural hickory which is a similar look I miss it.

Yeah they are Acacia. First thing we picked out on the whole house.
-
I tried to convince the wife to go with acacia on the one we just wrapped up, but she wanted to go dark we ended of with allot of espresso stuff. Now she is ready to go back to natural go figure. We did a fireplace very similar to yours they sure are nice, the only complaint I have is the damn rocks get to hot to allow you to sit on the hearth, and read.

We have a insert with a blower and when the blower is going it's tough to sit there to long but the rocks don't get hot on ours. You can turn the blower down too. My wife absolutely loves it!
