I bought the new Garmin Delta Upland and have been very happy with it so far, but for a long haired dog like yours you might want something you can get longer contacts for.

I bought a Dogtra Edge RT. I can get anyone here a really good deal on it. Pretty well under $400. I really like mine. Very easy to use, good feel and all the right features.

out of curiosity what have you noticed about Garmin cutting corners on their new products? i run the pro 70 and its been performing just the same as any of the classic 70 or trashbreaker G2 or G3s ive had. the pro's easier to charge, its a smaller receiver, has remote LED lights, and has a built in NO bark collar.
it is a throw away collar. No replacement parts, batteries or customer service to support the product. So when it quits working, throw it away and buy a new one. Something as simple as the dog chews off the antennae. trash.

so i guess where im confused is the "Throw away collar" . there are batteries ect for the Garmin Pro Series and have all the replacement parts the Tri Tronics G3 series had. they have warranties and refurbishment services. if your dog chewed up the antenna on a pro series you can get it refurbished the same thing you would have to do if your dog chewed up your G3 transmitter
i dont by any means think Garmin is the best option for everybody and i do think that its kind of like ford chevy dodge, pick one and you most likely will have a good experience. i just dont agree with the thinking that since Garmin bought TT that its all crap now... its not like Garmin fired everyone at tri tronics who was designing and building these things and tried guessing how to do it on their own.

I do not believe refurbishment and new spare parts are offered. You can barely find a collar on the Garmin website. The word is that Garmin purchased TT for a patent they had and have no intention of keeping a low production company in their portfolio.
Collar Clinic was a private company not affliated with TT. CC has announced there are collars they can no longer repair and refurbish because Garmin is not continuing to make or offer parts.

I'm good and he's also bought a new Dogtra Edge RT. I have a G2 Flyway with two collars and a beeper I'll keep for back up or if I buy a pointing dog someday. I had a Dogtra NC long time ago I gave to a friend who is still using it. Really quality products and still have great customer service.

I find it very odd. She can wear any other brand of training collar with no problem but if she wears that one for even a couple of hours her neck is bleeding when I take it off.

:yeah: it's pretty common I used to get it a lot with my labs usually rotating positions on the dog on a regular basis limits the hotspot
You have tried every brand? I've had it happen with garmin, tt, dt, and dogtra, but I have used those a lot more than other brands

I later got one of the early Flyway units and found out why everyone said TT had the best service dept and product backing in the industry. It's from experience, everyone had to use it.
Bought a Dogtra 2000 NC unit more than a dozen yrs ago and the only time I have had to send it back was after many years to change batteries. It was a demo model I bought from a factory rep, I have no idea how many hrs it had on it before I got it.

Nope, I don't have the desire for hunt tests ect.. Just train my dogs for hunting, and I've got access to a whole lot of different gear to use/test
