Was working the sportsmans show tonight and got to meet a king country sheriff. Come to find out the bull im lookin for a pic of was poached and the sheriff I met was the guy that busted him. There had been a lot of speculation that this bull was poached but I got first hand confirmation tonight. The guy changed his story about 8 times from what I saw, but turns out it was poached out of Snoqualmie. Anybody have a pic of the elk im talking about that they can post?

:chuckle:
Wow. Love to hear the rest of this story.

id like to get a pic up so everyone knows which bull im talkin about, but apparently the picture created enough stir that the wdfw and king co sheriff decided to do some investigating. They tracked the guy down using the picture of him and bull and found the bull at his house. Upon first questioning he said he pulled it out of hancock but people had sent in multiple trail cam pictures and statements saying it had been seen in other areas. They did some forensic tests and somehow determined that it had been shot at night. The bull has been confiscated and is awaiting a scoring now. The poacher has been arrested and facing felony poaching charges. Too bad though cause from what ive seen it would be a record for sure!
-
Looks like that bull was entered into the head and horns competition.
Or I'm thinking about a totally different bull.

Was this the bull that was supposedly shot in washougal?
-
Im pretty sure it was reported being shot in multiple locations. This is why im trying to get a picture of it up so theres less confusion :dunno: I went upstairs to the head and horn and didn't see it but would love to see it in person. ALOT of bulls from pierce county in that head and horn competition though.

If this is the bill you're talking about your story is not accurate.

This is the Bull I was talking about...

The bull I posted the picture of was killed in King County but rumors were flying that it was killed in washougal.
-
that is the bull....and the story that was relayed to me. If im wrong I would love to be corrected so I know the truth but the guy I met seemed pretty solid on what he was sayin.
-
The Bulls head was at the head and horns competition. Not sure how he could be facing felony poaching charges and still enter the head into the contest.

I thought I saw this guy and this bull at the show today. Brought the antlers in on his backback about 1pm today I thought.

Got to love rumors.

Definitely not a washougal bull

A few pics and lots of speculation in this thread; http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,160427.msg2116437.html#msg2116437 (http://hunting-washington.com/smf/index.php/topic,160427.msg2116437.html#msg2116437)

The poacher has been arrested and facing felony poaching charges.
In order to face felony poaching charges for an elk there has to be more to the story. Either a) he has a big game conviction in the past 5 years OR b) it was apart of a spree killing.
-
I think there must be some type of confusion as there is no way he would be able to enter it in the heads and horn comp and have it taken. :dunno:

Not sure what is going on or if there is an investigation but I do know he is not in jail and the antlers were still in his possesion today.
The guy in the photo above and these horns were both at the show today, the horns won best in show and he received the prize.
-
This is about the coolest looking bull I've ever seen. Rumors about location and whether is was poached have been rampant since it first appeared. I'd like to know the real story!
-

Because somebody shot a big bull, two different law enforcement agencies spent time and money because it just had to have been poached. And they used facial recognition technology to find him and some futuristic forensic techniques that proved it was shot at night?
Rigggggghhhhht.
But of course this wasn't plastered all over the news because WDF&W doesn't like to boast about their successes.
-
, this bull is in the back of the latest WSB newsletter I got with a caption under it that says north bend.

>:( come back with some facts. There were alot of stories going around about where it came from. Thats not too unusual with an animal of this calibur. This is a special bull. If a guy doesn't want to share all the details or location, he shouldn't be expected to. That doesn't mean it was a shady hunt. I don't know the hunter but this bull doesn't deserve to be defamed without facts. The forensics story is hard to believe. This all sounds like bull *censored* to me. Without facts all threads like this will accomplish is gossip and preventing successful hunters from posting pictures.

AWESOME bull.
-
Heck of a bull. Tagged for the story!

I hope there is a misunderstanding somewhere....

I think everything I posted was factually.
The guy in that picture and those antlers were at the sportsman's show. He arrived Saturday about 1:30 pm with them on his back, pretty tough to not get some attention with a rack like that on your back. They were entered as a Cascade Roosevelt elk, they scored 387 3/8", it said killed with archery equipment in King County 2014 and he did get best in show and a prize, just not sure if it was a gift certificate for a savage rifle or something else but he was there to receive the prize.
I was trying to clear up some of the rumors that were stated in this thread.
I don't know all the stories about how, where and when so I didn't comment on those just what I knew to be true from what I saw at the show.
I would love to know the rest of the story but understand why many of the details wouldn't be shared. There is always controversy with big animals like this and that is too bad. Some of the time it is relevant but most of the time it is not. Who knows how this one will turn out or if it will just fade away.

Saw this same guy walking around with a medallion around his neck for winning yesterday afternoon at the show. Here is the picture of the rack
-
Ok yes I saw this guy and the rack walkin around. Guessing the person who informed me was wrong or misinformed as well. Sorry for stirring the rumor pot.
-
So your whole story here is BS? Are you lying or the sheriff lying? This is a perty wierd thread...
PS, I like FGL
-
I like fgl as well, doesn't mean they don't look like dbag buckle models. And no my story was told to you guys the same way the guy told me.
-
Huh, big surprise, a lying LEO... Another good reason to not post or text kill pics..
-
The man...
-
Hold on, no need to call anyone a liar. We've all seen how threads can grow like wildfire. It's odd to me that a Leo would talk before the case was closed.

Am I the only one that's like......King County!? That thing is a booger hog!!!!!!!!

There is a well told story in Idaho (actually, it's a classic urban legend, told and retold) that goes like this: Warden stops a hunter at the check station, looks at the animal, busts the hunter for poaching. How did the warden know it was illegally harvested? "Animals shot at nighttime will have dilated eyes because of the spotlight...."
Total horse ba-hookey.

I am wrong but i was thinking Wdfw classifies anything east of i5 a Rocky Mt. Elk. Last I know king co. where elk are is east of i5. Unless the boone and crocket scoring is based solely on species type only. No matter what it was a dandy bull.

That's Boone and Crockett's boundary. The WDFW uses the Pacific Crest Trail.

Yep. I wish they offered an archery quality permit for the shed... :bash:

You guys are a bunch of party-poopers. This thread was going like wildfire yesterday, and then it just died. What happened? It was very entertaining.
-
It got cleaned up and edited I think. Now that the spice is gone it is pretty dull.
