Couple buddies and I are going November 10-20 to Kodiak island for deer any information and help would be appreciated! Thanx

You picked a great time! Boats aren't a terrible way to hunt at all. Our favorite was camping on the coast and hiking up the hill each day, it can be tough hunting with all the thick alders and always be aware of big brown bear. We've had a deer stolen once from us and also followed by one for miles by one in a snow storm. You can spot and stalk the deer by glassing below and working your way up or simply just walk through the woods slowly and hunt your way up. Any other info feel free to ask I have been there about 7 times. Also if camping on the coast make sure to bring some extra para chord to hoist up the game bags nice and high. If you're flying in to camp as well look up Seahawk Air, extremely friendly outfit and pilot (Roland) he is very knowledgeable and cares about you and getting you to your spot safely. Bring a few days extra supply of food for each person as well if flying in because Kodiak can get easily socked in and the plane may not be coming for awhile.
A couple of good daily tips is bring reflective tape and mark a trail to the top if you find an easy one and just take the tape down on your way out. This will make your daily hikes to the top much more easier. Also a nice folding saw can come in quite handy one you get near alders and there's no way of going around them.
I'm sure I am missing a lot, just feel free to ask it was one of my favorite places to hunt growing up and as an adult.

WAnoob is on point. Always be bear aware. We also had a Brownie follow us in a snow storm. We also had one come and take our carcass. Scary chit.
Kodiak is amazing to hunt though and for sure will be a special memory.

WoolyRunner it always seems to happen in a snowstorm haha. One of the worst feelings is circling back to your tracks and happen to find a bear track an inch longer than your size 12 boots. :o If you hear a bear story that sounds to crazy to be real...it probably is. We shot a nice 10 point one morning after a huge snowstorm so deer were out everywhereeee. so we decided to gut it and continue on and shoot another one. Upon returning to the kill spot we noticed 3 different bear tracks that carried, not dragged the carcass away and all that was left was the antlers and top jaw :'(

Exactly! When I tell the story people dont believe it. I wish i had a go pro back then.

Roland is an excellent pilot. Used him on my bear and deer hunt in Zachar Bay.

Same here man! but honestly once we saw the track following ours in a blinding snowstorm my dad and looked at each other not saying a word and dropped down the steep ravine to the beach and got away from the snowy alders haha. :IBCOOL:

Fully agree, we used him 4 or so times I believe, very laid back with the utmost professionalism
