Here is one... I would imagine the large California Bighorn on the right is the WA record although I'm not sure what the WA record is. I do know he goes 180-185" and the SCI record is 186"? A mega Washington animal.

WOW!!! Nice Pics!!! I wish this month would hurry up and go by so I can enter the photo of the month contest again!!! :bash: I have some good pics burning a hole in my hard drive!!! .............. :chuckle:
-
This sunset pic is from my last trip down the Skykomish. Went 2 for 3 that day and got a guy his first steelhead. Just to clarify, submitting the sunset, just showing off the fish.
-
The first is a picture of a camp my girlfriend and I had on the NW side of Mt. Rainier above the Carbon Glacier.
The second is Mt. St. Helens after hiking down the west side of Coldwater Lake. We had just came down from the Mt. Margaret backcountry. Saw the biggest Elk I think I could ever see west of the Rockies up there, and lots of them. Wish I had a bigger telephoto camera for close ups of all the Elk we saw. Someday...
-
Well here I go hope this works, think there are the right size. Enjoy!

I like the Stepping stones saudog. They to keep the socks dry?
Yeah I thought it would be cool. There were thousands of those big flat rocks everywhere up there. It's like a martian land scape. All the glacier activity that has gone on up there makes for awsome scenery. Here's a random pick of a big rock face that was pretty cool and a bowl that had been carved out by ice at one time.
-
I call this one "The Bookends"! Not big bulls but kinda cool. The bull on the right has some great potential!

You should have called it Double Bull....... :chuckle:

It's kind of deep when you're kind of short :P

I'll repost w/ the proper size...sorry about that.

1st entry. Morning picture of a Swakane ram from last October. Much bigger guy with him, but he didn't cooperate. Larger pic here: http://www.rivercolor.com/images/octobersheep3_small.jpg

That's one heck of a shot sooperfly! I like the quail also Wastickslinger. I think I will quit posting pics and just admire everyones pictures. You guys are all out of my league!

Saudog, mind sharing the camp spot? Looks like a neat spot to camp.
Here's one entry for the month, my street during one of the many snow storms before Christmas.
-
Here is my entry.

1998 B&C bear!
-
Bear Films
-
Cool x-rays of the bear. Might be a dumb question but why was it x-rayed? To show the skull is real?
-
I was working at the Hospital installing a new fume hood for the medical examiner. Happened to be the same week they brought in the 21 smuggled bodies they found in the shipping container at the port from Tiawan. The had a new female bone specialist and I asked her if she wanted to see my new bear skull. So I brought it in and they x-rayed it. They also leveled the king dome that week.
-
Pretty darn cool that you have those pic's. Thanks for the info.
-
Here's my entry of the photo I shot today.
-
Her First. I don't know how to remove the blood in the photo.

-
Just a quick job...
-
I removed the grass for you.
-
Can you add a 6 point, 350 rack :dunno: :chuckle: Thanks a lot guys. That was one special moment. First shot at a big game animal, 150 yds. Hole through the heart. I'll post the story later.
-
Some times it's not the photo but the content of the picture ;)
-
My Alpine packgoat, Gus.
-
That's some beautiful country and a great shot. How much weight can Gus carry? Does he forage around on his own or do you need to bring pellets or compressed hay? Also do you worry about Cougars? Not really interested in getting one just curious about him.
-
In his peak years I had him carry 80 lbs for a couple of miles. They do forage, and I do bring alfalfa pellets. For cougars, when I am not around and he is tethered the goats will have
dinner bells on to warn cats, bears, dogs, people...
-
Wow!! 80 pounds is a bunch of weight!!! He looks like a really nice animal! I bet he is also very sure footed and can go pretty much anywhere that you can.
-
When I saw that photo last month I was torn between the trophy goat and Gus. Really a nice photo and it means something because of your little story that went with it.
-
going to be a tough month THANKS all for contributing. You guys make this a successful and fun competetion. Those that don't play get to see alot of great pics.
-
I sure like Sooperflys sheep pic. The quail are right in there also. Of course anytime Pope submits it is going to be in the running. I can't wait to see his next entry....... So far, if it were me I think Sooperfly would get the nod.
-
I didn't get out as planned in January to take more photos. I can't resist posting another photo of the WA state record california ram on the hoof...
-
Oh Man, What a great shot!!! He really is something. What do you think he will score? He is a monster for any sheep let alone a California. Thanks for posting yet another incredible picture.
-
Awesome pic pope! I don't think anyone will complain if you want to post more pictures of that Ram. Gus the pack goat doesn't look bad in his pick either!
-
If I had to guess I've scored it a few different ways but I think 182-185 is reasonable. I found out the WA state record is 182 6/8ths from the Swakane in 02. I would imagine he would break that but it's really hard to tell with sheep.
-
It looks like Swakane will be closed in 2009. I hope the fence gets started this spring as scheduled!
-
:yeah:
-
Not to Thread jack here...Ramslam and Pope what is the feeling with dropping the Mt. Hull permit to 1. I know WDFW bios are trapping bighorns up there and giving them to the Colville tribes do to damage issues up there. Then they take a permit away? The tribe will propably still want there sheep permit too. Logic behind these decisions?
-
As an Oregonian posting a photo of a California elk on a Washington hunting site, I don't expect to win but it is one of my favorites. ;)(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi17.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb60%2Frenegade54%2FDSC_5712w.jpg&hash=983066be5b8995ffc009ca8543d4904699b4296c)

-
Thats a *censored* pic! :)
-
I hope you don't mind Ricochet but your Bull silhouette just replaced Popeshawns ram silhouette as my desktop wallpaper!
-
M-ray,
I don't mind, in fact I feel honored to have my shot replace one of the pope's great images. Thank you all for your compliments.
-
I don' tend to disclose who I vote for Richocet, but that pic is stellar
-
Every time I see that photo it is still one of my favorites Ricochet. Good stuff.
-
Great photo Ricochet...I like the 3-way west coast combo entry!
-
M-ray,
I don't mind, in fact I feel honored to have my shot replace one of the pope's great images. Thank you all for your compliments.
Thank you It looks great too BTW! :)
-
:yike:
i thought i had my mind made up.
-
Ricochet,
Incredible picture. I love the colors in that sunset not to mention one hell of a Tule! If I was voting you would have mine!
-
Saudog, mind sharing the camp spot? Looks like a neat spot to camp.
We took off from Mowich lake, past spray falls and up to spray park. We went past spray park (huge medows) and at the peak of that trail before it takes of back down the mountain to the carbon river trails, we headed up. We scrambled across the rocks and snow to gain another 1000 feet in elevation and found that nice flat snowfeild to set the tent on. Technically you are supposed to registar as a backcountry camp if you do not stay in one of the designated camp sites along the trial. We had stated that we were staying down lower but once I got up high I couldn't see diving back down into the timber to camp with no view, so we kind of broke the rules of the park to camp up there. Like I said though, supposedly you can registar as a backcountry camp and stay anywhere you want, so long as you aren't tromping over wild flowers and such to get to your camp. Up high, it's not an issue as it's mostly rocks and snow with patches of medows and flowers. Fun trip for sure.
-
This is my entry of a Great Gray Owl (Strix nebulosa). Picture was taken in the Blue Mtns.
-
Crap. Just when I thought I had a chance to win you had to go and post that amazing photo Ricochet? Still my favorite photo of yours. It's great. Don't you have one where he is bugling too? ;)
-
Ricochet, great pic!
Saudog, thanks for the info on Rainier, adding it to my list!
-
CONGRATULATIONS Richocet. Your elk pic takes January's Photo of the Month contest. Awesome shot!
-
i got one i'll throw in the hat
-
looks like a little late.
-
congrats Richocet, the second i saw that i knew you won it , it was a great pic , i dont think you can top that
-
Little late T-Roy. Since it wasn't officially in this contest, I'll let you enter it again later if you like.
-
Great photo's!!! Congrats Richocet
-
Congratulations are in order to ya, Richocet. I trust you have that one enlarged and hanging on your wall?
-
Congrats I told you!!! I love that shot!!! Thanks for the Desktop wallpaper I'm enjoying it everyday!!!!! :)
-
Thanks to everyone for your comments, it was more a matter of being in the right place at the right time than being any kind of master of my camera. In short, I got lucky.
-
Congrats....great photo
-
Crap. Just when I thought I had a chance to win you had to go and post that amazing photo Ricochet? Still my favorite photo of yours. It's great. Don't you have one where he is bugling too? ;)
Yes, its his avitar.
-
Actually I have quite a few of the old boy bugling. Unfortunately the positioning of the other elk in the herd weren't always conducive to getting good photographs. I got several like this, I was so zoned in on the bull that I didn't even notice the other elk's positions. Kind of distracting, don't you think? :chuckle:
(https://hunting-washington.com/smf/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fi17.photobucket.com%2Falbums%2Fb60%2Frenegade54%2FDSC_5649w.jpg&hash=885dc0d80aa0baa21c02ba7e6b7c7905c069d79a)
Thanks again for the kind words.
-
I almost like it better. Are these cropped at all or full size?
-
The last one was full sized, the others cropped a little. I can't wait to chase them again this year. Hopefully the bulls will be a little bigger!
-
Absolutely fantastic pics Richochet!!! Thanks for sharing!!! Justin
