Title: AR500
Post by: Mongo Hunter on February 06, 2015, 09:25:36 AM
So I have always wanted body armor. just makes sense to me, we buy guns, ammo, knives ect. for self protection against bad guys, it makes sense to have protection against bullets too. Also do to recent bills that "they" are trying to shove through there's a possibility we may not be able to own it much longer. So my question is has anyone had any personal experience with the AR500 plate carriers and armor? I have watched all the stuff on youtube and it looks legit, just was curious if anyone has had any hands on experience or opinions.

This is the one I was looking at

Thanks guys.

I've used both for work; there are benefits to both but I would go with the AR500. The only real benefits that I've seen to the ceramic is that the newer models are getting lighter with each generation and you will have less spalling from high speed projectiles due to the kevlar lining. On the other hand, the steel plates can be quite heavy depending on size (coverage) but easier to conceal under a loose button up shirt or other layer and will not degrade due to rough treatment like the ceramics manufacturers warn against.
