Title: Christmas Coyote
Post by: clindsayrun on December 28, 2008, 01:33:57 AM
I was fortunate enough to be able to get out for a little while on Christmas Day.

I was rewarded about 10 am when this crafty devil circled around to come in down wind of me. Actually he kind of came out of no where. All of a sudden there he was at 25 yards directly to my right. He was peaking my direction out of the brush. I waited for him to look away and I turned on him real slow. When he looked back I put one right in his head.

This kind of cements it...I really need a lure out in front of me to get their attention.

It was a great morning though. I made it home and had him skinned out by noon for dinner.

Congrats, That's a good looking dog. He looks a little "stiff" Did you pose him before you froze him? :chuckle:

It's still pretty cold out. We hunted almost another hours after I killed him. And then after the truck ride home he had started to stiffen up.
He still skinned pretty easy...once I got him in the garage. Wife wasn't too happy about that but it was a whole lot warmer in there.

Do it on the kitchen table or counter next time.  They really like that.  She was the one complaining that I am never around, so while she did her thing in the kitchen I did mine.   :chuckle:  And you guys wonder why my doghouse is so well furnished.

Did you add your yote to the coyote competetion in the Coyote Madness thread.  The forum team could use your help......

Hey be careful with this advise ... Bone I used to do that stuff and now I'm not married anymore!!! Allthough I had a very Guilt free hunting season hmmm lets see a week for elk 27 days of moose and 9 days in Montana ... it seems like a fair trade now that I think of it!

:chuckle: nice yote!

nice going. i have a bunch of decoy's i use for cougar and bobcat. several woodpecker's that sit there a fly. my custom Foxpro has a little raccoon looking decoy on a wire that thrash's around. alot of caller's on the eastcoast use a feather hanging from a branch turkey or barred owl. would be great on the eastside with the wind there.
