I have a 4X one one and a 3-9X on another.  A  4x with a decent sized objective lens would work great for general shooting.  Look beyond .22 scopes with thier little tiny objective lenses.   :twocents:

Ya I like the 3x9 on my 22lr. I like a scope with parallax adjustment my self. But I also push my 22 out to 165yards sofar.   Does your rifle have punts for scope rings?  I'm guessing it does , or at least tapped for it since it has no sights

It's a great way to learn wind. And to learn long range shooting. I shoot at a 4" and 2"steel plate at 165. My goal is to run out of dial. Hoping I can make it past 200. Takes almost 20 moa of dial to get on at 165. I think I have enough dial to make it to 200 or just passed.

Then you may need to take it to a smith.  What model is it?

Sorry, but that's just silly.  Why handicap yourself?  Especially if it does not have iron sights.  There are plenty of cheap 22s out there with iron sites, probably would cost less than having a smith put irons on yours.   :twocents:

Unless you can find parts to fit it.  Try here for an older gun.  http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/)

Then open sights it is-

If you can't figure out what sights you want, we would need the make and model of gun to get the correct fit.
Or you could take it to your local gunsmith for ideas.

And yep, if you want the original sights- check out http://www.gunpartscorp.com/ (http://www.gunpartscorp.com/)   Numrich - "The worlds largest supplier of firearms parts and accessories"

These sites are chocked full of gun sights to check out.
