Hello
My name is (Bear Hunter) I just took the trappers test and received my card. I am a welder/Fabricator and was looking for some good traps to copy. The beaver suitcase one are just to darn expensive for public land use. I was just going to purchase the springs and make the rest. and for otter and bobcat is 1 or 2 door better? I have a basic design for a single door trap. I am just having trouble designing a two door swim through one and land trap. How do you make it to trigger work both ways? Anything will help Also where do you guys and gals buy your supply's locally? I need ring piers and metal rings. Who sells them? I live in shoreline Thanks

Welcome to the addiction! :)

Thanks

Welcome and any hardware store or feed store will have the hog rings and pliers. Bruce has a good swim through that's his design and easy to make. I prefer power door traps little more costly to duplicate. Try you tube.

Cool Thanks!!!! I will pick a couple up. I going to try and make one with a spring loaded door. I wonder if it is legal to make one that closes as fast as a foot hold?

They are legal and they are refered to as powered doors.

You cannot get decent C rings and pliers at the hardware store. Try googling Klubertanz. They have the good stuff.
Go to one of the Rendezvous and you will get a look at some good traps.

Your in for some fun! I'd take a look at muskrat collapsible traps also. Bobcat I like single door 10" wide 18-22" tall and 42" deep.

Attending a Rendezvous is some good advise, bring a camera, take some pics of traps so you have them to look at while fabricating your own.

Thanks for the info  When is the rendezvous show? I hit the show up this spring and bring my camera. Thanks again for the info.

I doubt there will be any supply dealers there. They come to our Summer Rendezvous but never the Winter Rendezvous. There will be furbuyers.
