I will be over at chelan the first week of April and I'm determined to find some bighorns....I stayed in Leavenworth last year and found some goats and looked for some sheep with some tips from members but couldn't find any.....can anyone tell me where's a good place is that I can take my family to see some bighorns?
-
Drive the road between chelan and Wenatchee on the west side of the river. Can't miss them south of Entiat (sp). Good luck
-
I've seen them right along the highway right at Swakane Canyon. That has always been in late October and November, so I don't know if they will be there in April. They may be higher especially if there's no snow.

Thanks

Haven't been seeing to many along the highway lately but usually u can find a few. Been a few nice Rams behind Pro build. Last ones I have seen
-
Just upriver from the Chelan Falls Fish Hatchery would be the first place to see 5 Rams or a bunch of ewes. Next place is between Walmart and the airport they are always in either of these areas.
-
Glass the Butte, should be able to see lots of them.
-
Above Rocky Reach
-
I'll try to get to all of those places...thanks guys

Above Rocky Reach
There is a turnout near the dam. Park there head strait uphill. It is a grunt getting in there, but there are sheep (At least in the fall). Haven't been there in the spring

I see them pretty much every time I head out towards Entiat just past the roundabout by the RV dealer. I bet if you were to drive between Entiat and Wenatchee a few times you will see them. Sometimes they are right down almost on the road. Never gets old.
-
Have taken pictures of sheep on 97 just north of the Chelan falls turnoff above Beebe Bridge. Just past < 1/2 mile the Beebe bridge natural park ( or what ever the dayum name is ) that park put in by the tree huggers, Can sometimes catch them on the RR tracks even <100 ft from the road.
-
Just drive the highway and look for all the camera jockeys pulled over on the side of the road!!!! You cant miss them they cause a lot of wrecks!!!
-
Can't help you with Chelan area but last weekend we saw around 30 sheep (different groups) in the Yakima canyon. Saw 1 ram. He was almost a full curl. Got some good pics of him. If I remember tonite I'll upload 'em.
-
Some nice Chelan area rams from last month.
-
Do you know where the sheep feeding station outside of Natches is?
Pretty easy to find.
Might want to stop there on your way to/from.
-
I drive 97A several times a day. Like others have said, between Wenatchee and Entiat, look at the area across from the Tree Top plant & between North bound mile markers 208----210. Have Fun :)
-
Some nice Chelan area rams from last month.
But "where" is the question...
:)
-
:yeah:
No idea where the feeding station is but I'll look it up thanks
-
You could see sheep just driving through the canyon between Ellensburg and Yakima. It wouldn't be as far as going to Naches.

just north of Beebe bridge

Not many rams to see there right now just a couple band of ewes. Saw a lone ram today in the upper section towards e burg
-
Well how many at the feeding area outside of Naches? Probably not many since there's no snow. :dunno:
-
Not sure, haven't been that way in awhile, but with how green it is i imagine they have moved up. I can are clemans from my house just too far to see animals. In the last two weeks the sheep have really dispersed from the canyon as well
-
Might be just the wrong time of the year to see them then ....I'll be tryin anyways ...I just won't be able to spend a bunch of the vacation lookin for them....I'll have the wife and kids with me

Like I said hit the Butte, those sheep don't move far.
-
If you go through the canyon, mile marker 10 has had around 15 rams that have been hanging around right there.

There were 7 or 8 ewes yesterday upriver from the beebe bridge.
-
Sheep were out today when I drove by each time. Close to mp 208
-
Awesome thanks  any rams?

About a half dozen ewes and at least one ram. Were still there a few hours later on my way home. They were like 100 yards off the highway
-
A few years ago we had 3 come through by our place at Sunnybank on the Lake. They must have been lost!
-
The cleman herd was sitting right at the intersection of HWYs 12 and 410. The wife and I counted about 100 of them just north of 410. LOTS of the buggers.
-
The biologists have been studying, glassing the sheep from Wenatchee to the Chelan airport the past week.
-
thanks  ill be headin there on saturday
