Title: Cerakote on a muzzleloader?
Post by: jackelope on February 25, 2015, 06:50:22 AM
Anyone ever cerakoted a muzzleloader?
Does it hold up ok with the corrosive nature of the blackpowder and the cleaners that go along with it?
Too late now I guess because it's already happening...just wondering if I made the right choice.
(And don't worry....it's not the Knight)

Thanks.

Just a bit off subject here, have you ever found a thumb hole stock for your t/c xr?  I know nothing about cerakoting??

Nothing hopefully...was just saying I'm not cerakoting my Knight that I just picked up.
It's a Black Diamond XR that has some light corrosion on it.  Getting it done in Tungsten Gray.
Maybe the stock too...we'll see what's underneath the rattle can paint job it has on it now.

I can't answer your question, but I'd love to see pics when you get it back.

We hunt with Black Diamond XRs and I'd love to see yours post Cerakote.

thx,

I've had mine cerakoted.  And it has held up pretty good, except on the crown.  But, I think that is to be expected with the nature of the gun.  Still have to treat the rifle like any other BP gun with the cleaning regime

I'll post some pictures when I pick it up. I dropped it off last night and will probably pick it up tomorrow night.
The guy does some nice work.  He just did my Encore frame and 1 barrel for me.

Thanks...I was expecting the same cleaning regime, just wanted to know the long term effect on the cerakote itself.
Thank you.

 :yeah:

We had Smossy's cam and wheel cerakoted on one of his bows. Turned out pretty nice looking but parts did end up chipping with use so  :dunno: could of just been him.

A guy that goes by "Tactical Assault" on Seattleguns and waguns. I'll ask him if it's cool if I post his info. Turnaround time is 1-2 days. I could have picked it up last night, but I couldn't get to his place.

I picked up the muzzy last night but didn't have a chance to post pictures.
I'll get some posted ASAP. It's the same color as the Encore and also turned out great.
