What rifle do you like to use? Any suggestions for a good rifle for 300 yards or better?
-
Can't beat a 270 or 30/06. I've got both and would use either one for black bears. Either one is good out to 400 yards.

I use a .300 WSM Tikka T3....have dropped 2 bears with it in the last 2 years....
of course...I and my brother have dropped bears with a .280...soo..ya...

I use a .270

300 win mag seems to be the preferred caliber for our group, but they range from 25 WSSM to 300 RUM.
300 WIN MAG with a 180 grain seems to put em down pretty hard.

.308 carbine...

"300 yards or better" does that mean closer or further? :chuckle: for me closer is definitly better.
Any normal deer rifle, place your bullet.

7MM REM MAG. 175GR COR-LOKS. 5 BEARS, FROM 10YRDS TO 300YRDS ALL 1 SHOT KILLS.
-
.30-06 works fine.
-
.300 Savage carbine. Not so good for long shots though but a good brush gun.
-
Hell I just take a switch... :chuckle:
-
.270 or larger, but ya still got a hit to kill em. The last thing you want is to be chasing down a wounded bear. :twocents:
-
I use a 30-06. Want to buy a .270 to hunt with next year.
In hunting anything shot placement is key!
-
.270 on up.
-
.280rem does the trick. plus it rolls of the tongue better than .270.... haha! :IBCOOL:
-
I perfer to grin them down :)
-
338 ultra mag :o 250 grain X bullet
-
45-70 Ruger #1 with hand loaded Barnes 300 Gr X bullets....
-
How about a .50 cal In-Line blackpowder with a 405 grain hollow Point powerbelt with 110 grains of powder?? I s that an effective load out to 100 yards?
-
I WANT AN ULTRA MAG!
-
I shoot 300wsm. but its all about shot placement not cal. bear can go a long ways when hit bad...
-
I usually try to poke them with a stick, but they usually don,t let me get that close. I also use a .33 win mag for back-up. Great caliber.
